Hello, My name is Dini. A dentist from East Kalimantan, Indonesia. My freelancing journey started in 2008 when I was a college student. A friend of mine has a difficulty in English and most of our references are in English. I'm sure this struggles also happened to many dental and medical students in Indonesia back then since English is not something we're familiar with. So I offered her help to do the translation of the reference even though I didn't quite confident since I was not an A-student and never done any translation for other people, Eventually, she said "yes". We're both were dental students and I know exactly what the task was so I tried to do the job exactly like the way I used to translate my own tasks. I double-checked every terms and make sure the meaning in English and Indonesian are aligned. I also formatted the translation on a ready-to-print mode so she could easily print it if satisfied with my translation result. And she did. She was my number one and long-term customer of my translation until graduated from her residency. Since that experience, few people started coming to me, from juniors to seniors and even the neighbors in the medical faculty and their residents. I became a popular medical/dental translator without any intended promotion. And I could never leave this freelancing job since it has become a part of me now even though I graduated and work as a dental practitioner.
