Hi and welcome to my portfolio!
My name is Katie, and I’m a native English freelance copywriter with many years of experience in global travel, tourism, hospitality, architecture, interior design and sustainability niches.
Originally from England, I’ve spent many years living and working in the Middle East and Asia. As a seasoned writer, I craft engaging content to enhance brand awareness, press releases and formal social media content covering everything from luxury hotels to home accessories. My international background gives me a diverse understanding and empathy for different cultures, places and religions
I deliver timely, hand-crafted, top-quality content using the latest SEO techniques to exceed client expectations and achieve the best possible front-page rankings. I believe that storytelling is the most powerful way to communicate a message.
Clients include big-name brands such as Waldorf Astoria, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, Little Steps Asia, World Bride Magazine and Asia Lifestyle Magazine. My experience has enabled me to transfer these storytelling and language skills into the world of copywriting, editing and proofreading.
I’m a flexible writer and have penned content for sleep consultants, elephant sanctuaries, recruitment, luxury yachting and weddings. I've helped multiple clients translate their messaging into easily-deliverable content, including blog posts, marketing materials and bios.
If you’d like to peruse some of my work, I’d be delighted to send you some published samples. I can’t wait to work with you.
The recommendations say it all!
Sarah Motwali, Sumatra Cheeky Monkeys
"We hired Katie and QWERTY PR to write the content for our trekking and tours company based in Sumatra, Indonesia. After a meeting with Katie, I explained a little bit about our company and what we do and she created absolutely magical content- it was literally like she jumped into my head and recreated my vision into words. Extremely talented, professional and efficient and really takes the time to understand your business and what you are trying to achieve and as a result created our website content and soon to be all of our social media! Highly recommended"
Mark Silver, Travel Journalist
"As an experienced travel journalist having written about various properties and resorts throughout the world over the past 31 years, I am truly excited by the establishment of QWERTY PR.
I am excited for two main reasons: firstly, there is definitely a need for such a comprehensive and expert hospitality and travel-related company. Secondly, in Katie Hollamby you truly have a brilliant and vastly-experienced PR lady.
I have had the good fortune of working with Katie on numerous occasions during my extensive travels around the globe.
She always has been totally on the ball - whether it has been in hosting me in the likes of the Maldives, Egypt, Thailand or the UAE - and has ensured I was able to carry out a press trip with the minimum of fuss and fully able to experience the very best of the resort. The result was an exciting travel piece which ensured my readers were fully informed on their possible destination choice.
Having worked with literally hundreds of travel PRs during my long career, I can honestly say that no one has been as thorough, as professional, and as pleasant as Katie. The full package has been delivered in terms of the build-up, actual trip itself, and any subsequent assistance in writing up the piece. She has ensured that every trip, working in together with Katie, has been an absolute pleasure.
I have to say that some PR contacts have needed constant reminding, unnecessary chasing-up on my part, and other inconveniences. This has never been the case with Katie. An outstanding lady to work with.
I am confident she will ensure QWERTY PR delivers for her clients. It is an exciting company, an imaginative name, and offering key services that are crucial to the required job being successfully accomplished.
Words are vital in this world. What are we without words? QWERTY is much-needed.
And my word, I would strongly recommend using Katie's services".
Rebecca Weimer, Fjord
"The Word Consultant is who you want behind your PR efforts. Katie brings decades of international experience to the table; from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. It's rare that you find someone with such a diverse skillset who owns the strategy and thorough enough to manage the details. Her dedication, approach, and execution sets her apart and is the reason she delivers impactful results".
Iain Cooper, Ras al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority
"I've worked with Katie on a number of projects and QWERTY seems like a totally natural progression for her. Her enthusiasm and energy infuse everything she does with an honesty and integrity that is both compelling and credible. Add to that, her incredibly broad industry experience/knowledge and you have all the ingredients of a great PR partner".

I've been a published author for decades, with novels, short stories, and reviews to my credit. I am also a developmental editor and ghostwriter with excellent references from my many satisfied clients. The video to the left is a book trailer I created in PowerPoint for JERSEY GHOULS (2018). My first book was, oddly enough, a children’s book, DINOSAUR DRESS UP, published by Tambourine Press (a division of William Morrow) in 1992. Since then, I’ve published many other books, mostly science fiction, fantasy, and horror. I’ve also ghostwritten more than a dozen works of science fiction, fantasy, memoirs, and cozy mysteries. My short story "In the Conservatory" was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. In 2024, Regal House began publishing my trilogy of Young Adult books set in ancient Egypt. The first book is titled MURDER IN MENNEFER. The second, IMHOTEP AND THE QUEST TO KUSH, was published in June of 2025. The third book, THE KING'S GHOST, will be released in July 2026.
I’m a trained artist, and have had hundreds of drawings, paintings, and illustrations to my credit, over a freelance career spanning 50 years. I’ve designed everything from Christmas cards to tattoos. I'm an enthusiastic collaborator, and take pride in delivering projects on or ahead of deadline.
I live in Rockingham County, North Carolina with my wife and occasional collaborator, novelist Grace Marcus. I also play a mean kit of drums and performed in bands for over five decades.
My pledge to clients: I will never use ChatGPT in any aspect of my work for you. What you will get is 100% Al Sirois.

I’m a freelance editor with over 20 years of experience—longer if you count all the typos I used to find in my early reader books. And I NEVER use AI. I love the English language (even if teaching it, or even fully understanding it, is fraught with trouble). My job is to make everything you do better.
I have edited for traditionally published authors (like Elise Title who has published dozens of romance novels for Harlequin as well as psychosexual thrillers like Romeo for Bantam), and I have also worked with self-published authors, and even authors who just want to make their passion project perfect for themselves.
“What about nonfiction books, Rebecca?”
Yep, those too; everything from business manuals like Code–Measure–Improve by Adam Schwartz and Deborah Walsh, to self-help relationship books like Relationship Cleanup by Elise and Dr. Jeffrey Title.
A special place in my clichéd heart is reserved for children’s and YA lit. I would call it nostalgia if I didn’t still read them for my own enjoyment. There is room in that aforementioned clichéd heart for my first love—poetry. When I was a child, my big brother read Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss to me until I memorized all my favorites. In sixth grade, when my English teacher read “Suicide’s Note” by Langston Hughes—my trajectory immediately changed. I studied poetry and poetics in college for my final thesis. I think that knowing the way words work in poetry gives me a unique perspective that serves to enhance my editing skills.

★ Your friendly coach and certified grammar nut to help get your manuscript over the finish line
★ Sample edit to ensure we're a fit
★ Zoom "get to know each other" call or message chat
★ 5+ years' experience + ACES Certificate in Editing
★ No genAI—ever
I offer proofreading and copy editing services for fiction, nonfiction, blogs, articles, emails, and anything else you have written!
I believe a great editor is part cheerleader, part guide, part grammar nut. I’m here to encourage you, make suggestions to help strengthen your writing (when you want that!), and help you cross the finish line with confidence—and a word-perfect manuscript.
I have more than five years of experience and a Certificate in Editing from the American Copy Editors Society.
I know how much trust it takes to hand your writing to someone else, and I don’t take that lightly. Communication is a big deal to me, so I take the time to understand your story, vision, and goals and make sure we’re on the same page.
❏ Proofreading
• I do a detailed proofread focused purely on spelling, grammar, punctuation, word use/missing words, and formatting.
• I give your work its final, word-perfect polish so that it is ready for your readers, eliminating all technical errors without making suggestions related to style, sentence structure, or flow.
❏ Copy editing
• A copy edit is more in-depth than a proofread; I do a close read of your work to address wordiness, unintentional shifts in verb tense or tone, plot inconsistencies, and fact-checking.
• I ensure the language is polished, clear, and consistent, and I make respectful, thoughtful comments to suggest small improvements.
• Includes two passes: one initial pass to track all edits (which are then sent to you for review), and a second, final pass to incorporate all feedback and confirm that even the smallest errors are caught and corrected.
• Includes creating a stylesheet, if desired, at no extra cost.
I never use genAI in my editing work, guaranteed. I love what I do, so why would I let AI have all the fun?
