Hello there! I'm Kristina, a full-time professional application editor, admissions specialist, strategic college consultant, and writer with 13 years of experience and success. I am a graduate of Harvard University (Bachelor's) and MIT (Master's) and am the founder and lead editor of Edit2Success, an elite college consultancy with a focus on top-tier undergraduate and graduate college applications, including the Ivy League. I am a former rocket scientist (structural analyst in the aerospace field) and Professor of Mechanical Engineering, which allows me to effectively collaborate with and guide STEM applicants on how to package their interests into compelling applications. I specialize in crafting standout essays and admissions materials for top-tier schools across all majors, including MBA, Engineering, Psychology, Arts, Computer Science, Neuroscience, and others. I have extensive experience in knowing what elite colleges look for and have helped 400+ students reach their dream schools. I have edited essays (theme, structure, flow, creativity, eloquence, critical thinking) for students that were accepted into Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Princeton University, Stanford University, Dartmouth, Yale, London Business School, Cornell University, University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Duke Fuqua, and hundreds of others. I provide complete guidance/strategy for the college application process and the Common App. Prior to my freelance career, I spent three years as an Aerospace Engineer and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering. This experience allows me to craft high-quality application essays for STEM college programs in particular. Telling a story in an intriguing, concise way is critical to the success of a personal statement or statement of purpose. I craft exceptional essays with unique and effective themes, creative storytelling, and intuitive flow. I will offer my diligence, focus, enthusiasm, and honesty along with my sharpened creative writing and critical thinking skills. When entrusting your application to an editor or college consultant, it is important to choose one that is familiar with the complete college application process and has deep knowledge on effective application writing, which is unlike other forms of writing. In addition, I have a passion for STEM and engineering. I would be honored to work with you! Hoping to connect and create.

I've written about prescription medication, swimming pools, and hydrodemolition. If your industry is niche, technical, or just not particularly glamorous, I'm probably a good fit. After 4 years writing across health, B2B, and lifestyle, I've learned that good research matters more than industry experience. I write for the reader, not the brief. I write content that earns its place: SEO blogs and thought leadership that actually get found, product and service copy rooted in real customer insight, and health content written with accuracy and a bit of care (the internet has enough vague wellness waffle). What I bring: 4+ years of freelance content and copywriting 1+ year SEO experience in a digital agency Health and medical writing informed by lived experience as a chronic illness patient Comfortable across WordPress, Shopify, Magento, and Duda Research-first approach: I write for the reader, not the brief On the editorial side: I'm currently training in proofreading and editing with the CIEP and The Publishing Centre. If you need someone with a writer's instinct for flow, consistency, and catching the stuff that slipped through, I'm worth a conversation.

From 2007 to 2017 I was the owner of the Chicago Center for Literature and Photography, which published 40 books for total distribution of over 20,000 copies. Along the way, CCLaP's books won or were finalists for a half-dozen awards, including the Pushcart Prize, the Lambda Award for LGBTQ literature, and the Independent Publisher Book Award; and the center itself was named one of the 10 best indie presses in the United States by both BookRiot and Poets & Writers magazine. Now I bring that same award-winning deep experience to your own self-published or small-press manuscript, helping you hone it with a fine knife into the best book it can possibly be. I currently offer three services as a freelancer, the first and main one being editing. I provide not only developmental editing (helping you identify “big picture” problems regarding the story, characters, dialogue, information logic, and more) but also copy editing (including a close-in technical pass for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and usage, also sometimes known as “line editing” or “content editing”) and post-production proofreading (where I review not only the text but also all the book parts, such as headers and footers, the title page and synopsis, etc.). I charge half a cent per word for proofreading, 1 cent per word for either developmental or copy editing, or a bundled discount of 1.5 cents per word for all three. Secondly, I offer graphic design of your book’s interior pages. If you have specific ideas beforehand of what you’d like included, I’m happy to incorporate those wishes; or otherwise we work in an iterative process, where I present you multiple options as far as layout style and typeface choices, and over several back-and-forth discussions we whittle things down to a design you love. For books of less than 500 pages/100,000 words with no tables, I charge a flat $300 for the entire process, plus provide EPUB and Kindle ebook versions for free; please drop me a line if you have a bigger or more complicated book. (My apologies, but I do not offer cover design as a freelance service.) And thirdly, I offer help as a story coach, which you can think of as a creative writing college course but with only one student, you. I meet up with you at whatever frequency works best, review the latest work, give you pointers on where to go next, help you brainstorm ideas, and serve as an accountability partner during mental blocks. You determine exactly what kind of help would work best for you, and the maximum amount of hours I should work per week, at a rate of $30 per hour. See my portfolio section at the bottom of the page for a broad selection of testimonials from authors I've worked with as a freelancer, and praise my books have garnered over the years from such publications as Publishers Weekly, Kirkus, the Chicago Tribune, HTMLGIANT, and more. Proud member of: American Copy Editors Society Romance Writers of America (fellow RWA members get a discount; write for more) Chicago-North Romance Writers ANTI-AI PLEDGE: I promise that all work I complete for clients has been, and will always be, accomplished using only my human brain and ten human fingers, never using AI bots, Grammarly, or other software options.

He’d be an asset to any team." -Jeffrey S., Customer Strategy Leader, Accenture Song *** I developed my instinct for narrative in part through the master’s degree program in nonfiction writing at Columbia University, where I was nonfiction editor of Columbia Journal. I continued to sharpen the instinct in my essays for The New York Times and national literary journals. Today, I bring this experience to my work in content writing, editing and copywriting.
