I'm a VBA developer with over 25 years building macros and automation across Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. Word and Outlook automation is a more specialised corner than Excel, and it's where a lot of my biggest projects sit, so you get real depth where it's hard to find. I'm a Microsoft MVP and Expert-Vetted on Upwork (the top 1%), with a 100% Job Success Score, $100K+ earned and five stars from every client who's left a review.
I also build with AI in my corner. I use Claude to work through options faster and pressure-test my code, so you get quicker delivery with no drop in quality.
What you can expect:
Guaranteed quality. Every solution is rigorously tested before delivery, at unit, integration and system level. Any error on my part is fixed at no cost to you.
Predictable costs. Fixed price means fixed price. If I underestimate the work, I absorb the difference. Hourly projects always include a clear upfront estimate.
Clear communication. I start with a thorough Q&A to fully understand your requirements, including enhancements you may not have considered. I flag limitations early, keep you updated throughout, and I'm available during installation and first use.
You own the code. Delivered fully unlocked, with no restrictions and no lock-in, ever. It's well-commented with robust error handling, so it's easy to maintain, adapt, or hand to another developer if you ever need to.

Although new to Upwork, I am an experienced Access and Excel VBA Programmer, as well as a seasoned database administrator/designer. I have worked on Access and Excel projects for over twenty years.
I have worked on a variety of projects. Some simple in design with just a few database tables, to large complex databases with many database tables.
Over time, I have developed several Access Class Objects that greatly simply the implementation of complex routines. These class objects are available for use in your project(s) with no additional fee or royalty. The objects are described in the following paragraphs.
DRAG AND DROP - this is a capability that is not native to Access. It allows the user to grab a screen control and then drag it to another location on the form. For example, rearranging the entries on a schedule, like changing a clients appointment date or time.
SEARCHING A DATABASE TABLE - This object makes it easy to implement the task of searching for an entry in a database table. To the user it appears as if they are using a standard dropdown control, but with the ability to type in search criteria. (For example, searching for customers, vendors, products, accounts, etc.) I can usually make a field on a form searchable in less than an hour. This object used on key controls saves time and frustration for database users. Rather than scroll through a long list, they can type in the criteria to limit the list.
SECURE DATABASE ACCESS - This object model allows you to secure user access to the database. beyond the native capabilities of Windows/Access. This can be implemented at both the form level and at the field/control level.
LOGGING/AUDIT TRAIL - This object model provides a log/audit trail of database access and changes with minimal coding. You can easily see who changed what and when they did it.
ERROR AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT MESSAGING - communicating effectively with the user has always been problematic with Access. To address this, I created this object to standardize and simply communication with the user. The object is used to issue acknowledgement messages, like a record has successfully been added. Error messages of differing severity, warning, error, or sever. The messages are display beneath the field/control in error, and the error control's outline is highlighted in red. Making it easy for the user to see what is wrong.
Lastly, years ago, I was in charge of database administration for the Walt Disney Company. All database design for the corporation was performed by my group.

Short CV:
My programming professional experience spans over 20 years. In the last 10 years I have been working with Python, focusing on Data projects and applications. I'm extremely experienced with Python, scrappers, pandas, numpy and pretty much any related library. Before that, there is one decade's data-analysis and programming experience. I had been working with data collecting and processing tasks of all sorts using Python and VBA or AppsScript for Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets. I use scripts and professional licensed tools for web scraping (automated website reading), PDF scrapping, and editing, OCR (scrapping from image files, using Tesseract and Finereader), file/data management, 230000+ entries on some projects.
I can speak directly to API, or read/parse the HTML output/Dynamic DOM tree. I deploy to cloud (I use Amazon Web Services) for scaling and to perform geo-related searches, completing huge jobs in a few hours.
Tech Background:
I have extensive SYSOPS experience, having deployed numerous projects in AWS (using Lambda, EC2, S3, SQS etc), server-less and server-native. I speak Python (including frameworks as Pandas, BeutifullSoup, Puppeteer and selenium/webdriver, boto3 for AWS, Django for full stack web applications), VB, VBA (for Advanced excel solutions), Google Apps Script (for Google Docs and sheets based automations), Bash (for Linux SysAdmin tasks), JS, C, HTML, JSON, XML, CSS, and Windows Automation languages (i.e. Autoit, pyauto etc). I have used dozens of frameworks, and hundreds of APIs including Google APIs (geolocation), and Twillio for marketing projects. I have delivered working solutions that use hundreds of proxy servers with management and recycling.
In the recent years, I have extensively used and implemented OpenAI's GPT APIs to various web and pc applications. On this front, I have also studied and make myself a pro in prompt engineering, to make GPT actually work without hallucinations. This is an ongoing endeavor.
I have developed and deployed web applications based on Python (Django), SQL, Bootstrap5. I have done custom-developed genetic algorithms that perform live optimization, solving problems of trillions possible solutions.
I offer services rather than products. I'll design the best applicable solution for your task from scratch, run it on my own infrastructure, and deliver the results to you within time. The solution can also be developed as your own custom Web Application or Software as a Service (SaaS), "fully managed" by me to ensure working for as long as you wish. This means a custom made website or web API that do what you want them to do. Hosted, secured, login-ready, will work on any device (Mobile/Tablet/Mac/Windows/Linux any flavor), at reasonable price for development and maintenance. Also, I'm available for support on short notice, as long as our contract is active. I can also comply with a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
Through the years and through different projects and roles I have been in touch with hundreds of businesses and different verticals. The solutions I provide require me to understand the scope, and I find it easy to learn about and understand different subjects, be it Internet Marketing, SERP and SEO, Ships and Shipping Business, Automotive, Agriculture, Financial and Tax, Logistics and Production Lines, Electronics and Robotics, on a level that allows me to easily communicate and requirements of new projects and tasks.
I'm a fluent English speaker, and I'm available on Upwork chat even when I'm on mobile. This means I will respond to chat messages immediately or within 2 hours, 5 AM to 8 PM (UTC). I am also available at Skype, Slack, or Teamviewer, upon request (After Hire).
I'm a business-minded trained professional that you can count to, to get the job done in the requested time, with 100% accuracy and attention to detail.

Most $100K-$500K technology failures start with one bad decision — and by the time you realize it, the money's gone.
The founder approves the dev agency. The CEO commits to the AI platform. 6-12 months later: project stalled, budget burned, nothing shipped.
I help you see the fatal flaws BEFORE you commit the capital.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜 𝗗𝗢:
I provide Fractional CTO Advisory — independent technical validation for founders, investors, and CEOs making technology decisions that can't afford to fail.
When you're about to commit $200K to a dev agency, hire your first CTO, or approve a legacy system replacement — you need someone who's seen it go wrong 50 times.
I find the fatal flaws vendor pitches hide:
• Architecture constraints that make roadmaps impossible
• Development estimates 3x too optimistic (blowing your runway)
• Integration assumptions that break under real conditions
• Missing decision ownership letting projects drift 6+ months
My rate is $250/hour, but most work is structured as ADVISORY PACKAGES:
𝟭. 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛𝗡𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗗𝗨𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗚𝗘𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗦𝗣𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗧
Question: "Should we invest/hire this agency/approve this project?"
Deliverable: Go/No-Go recommendation (3-5 days)
At stake: $50K-$500K | Fee: $5K-$8K
ROI: One avoided bad hire pays for 5+ years of diligence
𝟮. 𝗣𝗥𝗘-𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗘𝗖𝗛 𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗞𝗔𝗚𝗘
Question: "How do we pass investor technical diligence?"
Deliverable: Investor-ready docs + Q&A prep (1-2 weeks)
At stake: $500K-$3M round | Fee: $4K-$7K
ROI: Failed fundraising costs 3-6 months + founder credibility
𝟯. 𝗖𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗧𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗥
Question: "Who do we call for CTO-level judgment without a CTO?"
Deliverable: On-call guidance (5-8 hours/month)
At stake: $100K-$300K quarterly spend | Fee: $3K-$5K/month
ROI: One bad vendor/architecture choice costs $150K+ to unwind
𝟰. 𝗖𝗨𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗠 𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬
CTO transitions, dev agency evaluation, legacy modernization, AI feasibility — pricing based on complexity and capital at risk.
30-minute discovery call (free) to assess what you're protecting and recommend the right model.
I do NOT provide hands-on dev, team management, or embedded roles (20+ hrs/week). I provide independent judgment preventing costly mistakes.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗦:
Technology failures hide in:
• Dev proposals skipping hard integration questions
• "Modern stack" pitches ignoring your operating constraints
• AI demos working in labs but failing in production
• Roadmaps assuming 5 things go perfectly — all 5 wrong
6-12 months post-contract: budget spent, runway shortened, asking "how did we miss this?"
You missed it because the pitch looked credible, the agency spoke confidently, the contractor said "feasible" — and no one asked questions exposing fatal flaws BEFORE commitment.
I ask those questions.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗜'𝗩𝗘 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗗:
25+ years as CTO across defense, water infrastructure, energy, fintech, edtech — 14M+ endpoints, zero-downtime environments.
Recent outcomes:
• $250K dev contract avoided — assessment revealed team lacked integration experience (founder negotiated 40% better rate elsewhere)
• $1.2M seed secured — package removed investor concerns (diligence passed first review, 30-day close vs 60-90)
• $180K AI killed at 60 days — retainer ID'd misaligned case before $140K more spent
• $320K migration, zero downtime — rollback protocol designed, 12% under budget
• $150K saved on CTO hire — assessment caught skill gaps founder couldn't evaluate
I understand startup urgency AND enterprise reliability — critical when burning $50K-$100K/month.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
𝗖𝗟𝗜𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦:
"Finding Daniel was hitting 'Triple 7's'! Grasped our concept immediately, provided extremely valuable insight. Tasked him with vetting dev teams — methodically found perfect fit. Without Dan, wouldn't have achieved our progress. Cannot recommend enough."
— Steve, ZinZuu
"In the first few minutes Daniel showed us he's a true professional and expert. He provided more value than we asked for and really simplified complex technical things in terms our whole team understood. Highly recommend for advice on development projects."
— Robert, Private - Startup Initiative
"Knew within minutes we found who could lead us to launch. Detail oriented, professional, responsive, excellent communication. Knowledgeable, experienced leader. Recommend without reservation."
— Jen, GoShimmy
"Hired for Windows app requiring deep IoT I/O understanding. Took loose specs, unraveled details, developed fast/reliable solution. Highly recommend as Sr. engineer for any magnitude."
— Heath, Mueller Water

With over 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry, I’ve mastered the art of data-driven decision-making to solve complex challenges. Using Excel, Power Query, and Power BI, I transformed raw data into insights that reduced packaging inspection lead times by 50% in a Six Sigma project and saved $200,000 in procurement within a year.
Data isn’t just numbers—it’s the story behind every success. My expertise in VBA and Python has automated processes, streamlined operations, and uncovered trends that others might miss.
When faced with expensive production machinery, I combined data analysis and innovation to design alternatives at just 10% of the cost, proving that insights fuel ingenuity.
From creating actionable dashboards to crafting cost-effective tech solutions with Arduino and Raspberry Pi, I bridge the gap between data and transformation. My story is one of using numbers not just to measure progress, but to drive it. Let’s uncover the power of your data together.
