Solving real-world RF problems…
While my official Title is an RF Engineer and I design things, most of the effort in any project is to fix things that don’t work. And even when they do work, there are noise and EMI issues that the FCC or CE bodies don’t appreciate. Once the PCB is designed you are limited – amazing what a different component type, ground strap, ferrite coil or ferrite elastomer sheet can solve.
Of course one starts with a basic design – specifications, component selection, circuit lineup, matching, antenna selection, etc., but the work does not end there.
I have a fully equipped lab with Lingren Shielded room for sensitive measurements. A quiet zone using pyramidal foam can make the room look like an open field. This is very helpful in testing antennas or receivers.
Many products need to operate over extended temperature ranges. Parts that are hot at 25C will burn up at higher temps. Our thermal imaging camera can pinpoint exactly what gets hot and how - what the heat flow path is. For more exact measurements we use a battery of LabView controlled thermocouples. We have a lot of experience in thermal mitigation weather its TIM selection or other mechanical mitigations.
Often there are too many things to measure at once - our data collection/automation with Labview allows detailed comparison of many variables over extended time periods.
Relationships with Certification labs allow us to determine just what is needed to comply or possible work-arounds.
We are good-natured and easy to work with, look forward to helping you.

I bring over 5 years of hands-on hardware and software design experience, taking projects from initial concept through to a production-ready design (PCB + firmware + connectivity). My PCB design expertise ranges from straightforward 4-layer boards to high-density 10-layer mixed-signal designs that demand tight impedance control, low-noise analog sections, and high-speed digital interfaces (DDR, Ethernet, USB 3.x, etc.). I’m fully proficient in Altium Designer and KiCAD, and I also have solid experience with OrCAD and Cadence Allegro when needed.
PCB Design Highlights
- Designed and released dozens of 4–10 layer PCBs, including high-speed mixed-signal boards with controlled-impedance traces, differential pairs, length-matched buses, and rigorous power integrity considerations.
- Full ownership of the layout process: component placement for optimal signal integrity and manufacturability, stack-up definition, DRC/DFM validation, generation of Gerber, ODB++, and 3D STEP files.
- Experienced with HDI features (blind/buried vias, micro-vias) when required for dense 8–10 layer boards.
- Strict adherence to IPC standards and specialized requirements (MIL-PRF-31032, NASA-STD-8739.4, EMI/EMC best practices).
Embedded Software Development
- 5+ years writing production-grade embedded C for a wide range of microcontrollers (STM32, NXP i.MX RT/LPC, Microchip PIC32, etc.).
- Linux bring-up and driver work on Raspberry Pi and custom ARM-based SOMs.
Automated Test Fixtures & Test Software
- Designed and deployed complete electrical/mechanical test fixtures that dramatically improved production throughput and first-pass yield.
