As a proofreader/editor, I have many years of experience with multiple types of documentation. My responsibilities in this field have included writing, proofreading, and editing release notes, manuals, how-to documents, marketing materials, website content, online help, and client emails. I know how to multi-task and complete projects on time, and my English skills are very proficient. Working with different types of companies has made me very familiar with educational, legal, insurance, retail, and technical languages. My experience extends to writing voiceover scripts for explainer videos. I also enjoy creative writing and songwriting (a few years ago I produced a CD that includes 10 of my original songs). I am an expert user of HTML code, Microsoft programs (such as Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Excel), Google Docs, MadCap Flare software, and website platforms. I understand the differences between US and UK terminology, and I have enjoyed working with international colleagues from the UK, Ukraine, Australia, and Ireland. I have a B.S. degree in English and Elementary Education and an M.S. degree in Reading Education. This education has shown me how to speak and write to an intended audience, whether it be a sixth grader or a remedial reader. I know how to make content understandable and easy to read, depending on who will be reading it. I have found this to be a very valuable skill, especially when writing and editing for technical and non-technical audiences. If you give me a document that is a complete "mess," be assured that I will make it better - and will love doing it!
