We are looking for a line editor for an Adventure-Horror meets Paranormal for the Young Adults and New Adults crowd novel. It's inspired by Stephen King, John Steakley, Brad Meltzer, and Edgar Allan Poe with a humorous Douglas Adams-fueled bite of dialogue. The work has been through one developmental editor (see below) and is three weeks from completion of its second developmental edit. All those applying must have a sample of their editing work with specific changes to at least 500 words of writing. Please provide an estimate of how long it would take you to line edit 50,000 words at time. First, three candidates will be selected (and paid) to revise 3,000 words from the “messy middle” of the novel. This may be one stand-alone chapter or a combination of two chapters. Payment will be $20.00 and five business days will be the allotted time to complete the assignment. The winner will be selected from the three candidates to line edit the novel. Those edits will be done in three phases: the first milestone for the first 3rd of the book (possibly including a stand-alone 1,500-short story), 2nd milestone for the middle, and 3rd milestone for the final third.
