I'm a mechanical engineer of 12+ years with a specialty for product development of consumer goods, medical devices, and electronics. I have worked for large companies, freelanced, and developed my own products. I like to think that I offer the full suite of (physical) product development. - I am very familiar with every stage of product development, from ideation to high-volume manufacturing, and I know exactly how to move a product to the next stage quickly and efficiently. - I have a solid understanding of the patent process, and how to navigate it as an engineer, such as analyzing competitor's patents or strategizing how to differentiate your products or patents. - I consider myself an expert at the prototyping process for physical products. The philosophy that I've learned from mentors as well as my own experiences, is to build and test as fast as possible. I will utilize 3D modeling and analysis software too, they are great, but nothing like testing your product that can be held in your hands. For complex systems and assemblies, that might mean testing the individual components to prove their efficacy, and progressively combine them into your final product. I have a vast toolbox of the different prototyping methods to give us the best depiction of your product, quickly and relatively cheaply. I have access to CAD software (Solidworks), 3D printers, laser cutters, and CNC machines (just to name a few tools). - For over 10 years, I've been finding and working with contract manufacturers, both locally and abroad. I have a proven methodology to find the most suitable manufacturer, at the best cost, and with quality guarantees. I have experience manufacturing parts made of plastic, metal, elastomer, ceramic, wood, and fabric. - When it's time to move to high-volume manufacturing, I have experience with that as well. I can help with the transition of your product from development to the production line, including the design and fabrication of things like assembly fixtures, test fixtures, etc., as well as creating and maintaining drawings using GD&T. - I have over 6 years of experience in the medical device field, so I am familiar with ISO13485 and cGMP guidelines and documentation practices. In addition, I have worked in the defense contracting industry so I am familiar with MIL specs.

I've been designing high quality, complex, plastic injection molds for over twenty years. I use Solidworks 3D modeling software. My typical designs include 3D CAD models, bill of materials, and 2D assembly drawings. I also offer fully detailed drawings of all custom components, if needed. My expertise includes unwinding molds, extremely complex parting lines, slides, lifters, hot runners, two-stage ejection, over-molding, two-shot molding, and molds for high temperature plastics such as PEEK and Ultem. Services include plastic injection mold DFM, product design, STL to clean Solidworks CAD model conversion, 3D digital scanning, and 3D printing.

Hi, I’m Josh Pappas, a full-time Design Engineer at Paradigm Manufacturing with a focus on mechanical design, CAD modeling, and prototyping. I specialize in SolidWorks and Fusion 360, and have a proven track record of delivering accurate, production-ready models for real-world applications. I hold a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and am a Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP). I also bring extensive hands-on experience with a variety of 3D printing technologies, including FDM and resin-based systems, for both prototyping and functional parts. My expertise covers everything from custom part design and complex assemblies to fully detailed engineering drawings with GD&T. I also offer reverse engineering services, using precision measurements and modeling techniques to recreate parts for repair, modification, or digital archiving. Past projects include autonomous delivery robots, RC vehicles, and CNC-machined components. My design approach is grounded in DFM principles, simulation-based verification, and practical manufacturing knowledge. I’m currently taking on select freelance projects where I can provide high-quality CAD design, 3D printing consultation, and mechanical engineering support. If you’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented designer with real industry experience, I’d be glad to work with you.

I design clean, parametric SolidWorks CAD for 3D printing and manufacturing. Deliverables: STL + STEP + 2D drawings (PDF/DWG), assemblies, and revisions. Most of my work involves taking a hand sketch, rough idea, or reference part and turning it into a functional design that’s easy to prototype and revise. I’m experienced with tolerance-driven features like press fits, slip fits, bolted interfaces, alignment features, and iterative prototype updates. If you need fast communication, clear timelines, and CAD that’s built for robustness and editability, I can help. I’m happy to sign an NDA and I typically respond same-day
