So, how can we work together to improve your site's conversion rate?
If your site has less than 10,000 visitors p/month or less than 700 conversions (transactions, signups, leads) p/month:
Unfortunately, A/B testing requires larger volumes of conversions and traffic to establish statistically significant results. Testing at low volumes will lead to false results and wasted money in implementing changes which do not actually make an impact. However, we can absolutely still optimize your conversion rate through the following methods:
- Heuristic Analysis (Expert audit of site based on best practices & proven psychological principles)
- Usability Audit (Browser compatibility, errors, page speeds, broken links, checkout anomalies etc.)
- User Research (user surveys, interviews, testing & recordings/heatmaps)
- In-depth analysis of Google Analytics data with the aim of identifying points of friction (drop-off points) and usability issues.
- Learnings from the above tasks can then be implemented together and the conversion rate / key metrics can be carefully measured via GA to establish if they made a meaningful difference (the changes should have an effect greater than 15% to distinguish them from normal fluctuations).
If your site has more than 10,000 visitors p/month or more than 700 conversions (transactions, signups, leads) p/month:
You have sufficient volume to start A/B testing! A/B tests provide the strongest level of proof for a change to the site and help to establish significant learnings about your customer's behaviour and values.
-Comprehensive research based on heuristic analysis, site audits, Google Analytics data analysis, user research (user surveys, interviews, testing & recordings/heatmaps) and internal data (customer service staff/transcripts, sales staff etc.).
-Development of hypotheses based on the learnings from research. These hypotheses are then prioritized and assigned to be either implemented (clear usability issues) or tested.
- A/B testing program. Testing is a continual process of learning and iterating to achieve improvements. Depending on your traffic levels it may be possible to run 2-8 tests a month.
