These formative experiences equipped me with the tools to blend creative expression with activism—a foundation that continues to define my work today. Harnessing the transformative power of street theatre, I confronted pressing issues—caste discrimination, gender violence, environmental crises, and public health—laying the foundation for a career rooted in art as a catalyst for social awakening. By 1999, I joined Radio Sagarmatha, South Asia’s first community radio station, where I pioneered groundbreaking radio dramas and daily children’s programs. These initiatives blended indigenous musical narratives with contemporary storytelling, reaching millions to address child labor, HIV/AIDS, mental health, and cultural preservation, while empowering youth as agents of change. My practice expanded globally through collaborations and trainings that bridged local narratives with international discourse. I represented Nepal at the IDEA World Congress (2004) and the Lincoln Center Director Lab (2007), trained in Noh Theatre with the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble (USA), and collaborated at festivals in Japan, Germany, India, and Bangladesh. Concurrently, I acted in over a dozen Nepali films, merging mass-media reach with artistic integrity to engage broader audiences. As former Treasurer of ITI Nepal and Artistic Director of Mala Arts Academy, I have shaped Nepal’s cultural landscape by mentoring 100+ emerging artists, curating hybrid performances in heritage sites and public spaces, and democratizing access to art. My jury roles in Nepal’s premier theatre festivals further underscore my dedication to nurturing inclusive, innovative storytelling.
