Jasper's a lot of fun, and can help you write more quickly in different ways—but there are a few best practices that you should be aware of before going all-in on AI content writing.

Put your own spin on Jasper content

You’ll want to edit and fact check any AI-generated content.

While the Jasper team has worked to make their tool's outputs as unique and reliable as possible, all generative AI tools run the risk of:

• Accidental plagiarism, in which the tool repeats some of its training material verbatim
• Hallucination, which is when the tool fabricates facts or figures that aren't verifiable
• Grammar mistakes, or syntax that doesn’t sound quite human

Plus, you should always put your own touch on the content—even when using the brand voice feature—as this helps to make your text feel more natural to human readers.

Check for plagiarism

Whether you're relying on Jasper or writing some of your own content as well, running a plagiarism check is always a good idea for extra peace of mind.

Jasper includes a built-in plagiarism detector tool. You can access it from the document editor—just click on "tools" at the top right corner of your screen and select "plagiarism checker" from the drop-down.

These checks aren't included as part of your Jasper plan, though, so you'll need to load a separate cash balance onto your account in order to use this feature.

You'll be prompted to add cash the first time you use the plagiarism checker—or whenever it's time for a top-up.

Be transparent with clients

Lastly, if you're using Jasper as part of the work you're doing for clients, let them know. This is extra important if you're planning to upload branded documents in order to train Jasper on a specific voice.

How Jasper works

Getting started with Jasper is simple. As soon as you create or log into your account, you'll see your Jasper dashboard.

Jasper templates

When you click the "Create Content" button on your dashboard, Jasper will ask if you'd like to start with a blank document or a template.

Templates are the easiest way to start the content generation process—especially if you've never used Jasper before.

Jasper has lots of templates, all organized by purpose. You can choose templates to help you do things like:

• Come up with ad copy
• Write a blog post
• Create Amazon product descriptions
• Draft compelling email marketing sequences
• Outline video scripts
• Brainstorm content topics

You can even create your own template for content that you draft on repeat!

This feature is called the "dynamic template" builder. Simply give Jasper a topic, and it will put together relevant fields for you to fill out. Once you're done, you can click the "generate" button to get your custom AI-written content.

Jasper workflows

Once you're comfortable with Jasper templates, you may want to test out the platform's workflows, too.

To find a workflow, simply click "Start from template" when Jasper asks you what you'd like to do.

Then click on the "Workflows" tab at the top of your screen. As with templates, Jasper has lots of different workflows you can try.

A Jasper workflow is like an expanded template—rather than filling out a few fields and hitting "generate," you'll move through several stages, each with its own set of fillable fields.

Workflows can help you be even more targeted and specific about the content you create in Jasper.

Jasper documents

When you're feeling like a pro at Jasper templates and workflows—or if you just want AI to assist you occasionally while writing—you can give Jasper documents a try.

The Jasper document editor is a space in which you can type freely, just as you would in a Google Doc. You can get help from Jasper's AI at any time by typing a forward slash.

Jasper will even display suggestions based on the content you've written so far.

If you liked using Jasper templates, but would like a little more control over the process, you'll want to try the "focus" functionality in Jasper docs.

By clicking "focus" in your Jasper sidebar, you'll get three text fields to fill in:

• Description
• Voice
• Keywords

Jasper will use this information to start writing wherever you place your cursor. You can keep revising the focus fields as you work, changing your instructions throughout the document.

Brand voice

Jasper can also help you adhere to a specific brand voice. This is useful if you're juggling multiple clients, working for a new company, or just want to make sure that all of the content writers you work with produce content that is on-brand.

You can access the brand voice section of your Jasper account via your dashboard—it's located in the menu on the left.

Jasper accepts a variety of file uploads. Each file you provide will help train the Jasper AI on how you want your content to sound. You can provide things like:

Remix is available in the Jasper docs editor. You can upload a file, give Jasper a URL, paste in some text, or reference one of your brand voice documents to start.

By making a quick adjustment in your Jasper account settings, you can start generating content in a variety of dialects and languages.

You can make little tweaks, like swapping between American and British English spelling, or rely on Jasper for complete language translation—such as from French to Slovenian!
