I am an award-winning screenwriter, story development consultant, and script analyst with more than a decade of professional experience helping writers, producers, and studios take projects from rough idea to production-ready script. I specialise in emotionally rich, character-driven stories for film, TV, audio drama, games, animation, and branded content. My work spans everything from contained indie dramas and true-story adaptations to animated explainers, murder mystery games, and high-concept genre pieces. Some quick credentials: • MA Screenwriting (Distinction, UWE) and BA Film Production (First Class, UCA) • Founder of Script Lighthouse, providing story development to clients worldwide • Script reader and analyst for organisations such as the BFI, ScriptUp, Script Studio, Unsolicited Scripts, The Pitch Film Fund, The Film Exchange, and Sheffield Global Cinema Festival • Experience with production companies including Wrong Dimension Productions, Moose Alley Films, Pood Studio, Red Amber, Soul Sentinel Productions, Tasnim Creates, Spiral Media, and more • Multiple awards, including Filmarket Hub’s Project of the Month and Best Screenplay at 48HFP Amsterdam On Upwork, I typically help clients with: • Script development and rewrites Taking a draft that is “almost there” and shaping it into a tighter, more emotionally satisfying script with clear structure, sharper dialogue, and stronger character arcs. • Script coverage and in-depth notes Professional reader-style reports covering premise, structure, character, theme, tone, pacing, dialogue, and market positioning, with precise, practical recommendations. • Book-to-screen adaptation Translating novels, memoirs, and true stories into cinematic screenplays or series bibles that preserve the heart of the original while working for screen. • Concept development and beat sheets Helping you clarify your idea, build a robust spine (logline, premise, theme, character journeys), and map out a scene-by-scene outline. • Explainer, animation, and e-learning scripts Crafting narrative-driven scripts and storyboards that make complex ideas clear, engaging, and visually playable for animation teams and clients. Clients often tell me they value my ability to: • Quickly understand what they are trying to say and why it matters • Offer honest but tactful feedback that respects their voice • Find solutions that are both creatively exciting and practically achievable • Bring a calm, organised, collaborative presence to the process Whether you need a full script, a page-one rewrite, detailed coverage on a draft, or a development partner to help shape a project over time, I would be happy to help. Send me a brief description of your project, what you are hoping to achieve, and where you are in the process, and we can work out the best way forward.

I was called down to Paramount off my very first spec script. At the time, Star Trek allowed 50 people a year to come to the William S. Hart building and pitch ideas. To earn that pitch, I beat thousands of other writers with my spec submission. I've been writing ever since. I give seminars at Universities and in Los Angeles for organizations like Colab. I've won pitching contests and excel at synopsis and loglines. I've also produced films for Netflix, Eone, Lionsgate, and MGM. I'm a writer at heart, and because of that I have a Facebook Group called "Screenwriter Networking," with over 70 thousand members. Experienced writers know that writing is not a science, it's an art. You can't rely on structure but it's a wonderful guardrail. Structure is a guide. Your story needs to elicit emotion from the audience. Showrunners and Directors believe they can be writers because they've studied how to follow some "structure recipe". That is only the first step to becoming a writer. Let me show you. There are levels beyond story structure. Call them tools. There's a psychology behind writing. (It was the best of times, it was the worst of times) There's subtext, subverting audience expectation, hooks and cliffhangers, sympathy for characters or the ghosts that haunt them, story plants and payoffs, foreshadowing, dramatic irony, mid-point shift, a time crunch with high stakes, objective correlative and the list goes on. Story creators today seem to have forgotten these tools in favor of a structure recipe. Don't rely on cheap tropes and imitation. Good writing requires just a little insight to achieve much more.
