If you're looking to draw in an audience with comedy or have your content really pop, look no further! I'm a trained comedy writer with over a decade of professional experience. I've written Funny Or Die originals, worked in house as a video writer at College Humor, The Disney Channel and Conde Nast, programmed content for a top YouTube channel (The Fine Brothers) and have written humor articles for The New Yorker and McSweeney's. I've also run a production company that focused on branded and commercial work. I consulted on the original Dollar Shave Club video that propelled the company from start-up to billion dollar valuation. As well as being Top-Rated, I have an Expert-Vetted badge -- awarded to the top 1% on the platform. I take my job seriously, work fast, and dedicate my full energy to making sure the best and funniest material is on the page.

I finish projects, I meet deadlines, and I have no ego about being told what to do. If you need someone who shows up, does the work, and makes your vision a priority over their own, that's me. I am an enthusiastic, eclectic reader. I will read anything. I bring that energy to every beta read, developmental edit, copy edit, and line edit I take on. I read fast, I respond quickly, and my feedback is detailed, careful, and kind. I grasp story arcs instinctively and I am particularly sensitive to character development, pacing, emotional beats, and emotional arcs. For nonfiction, I assess logic, rigor, and readability: whether the argument holds, whether the ideas flow, and whether readers can actually follow and absorb the content. Because I edit as I go, fixing grammar and smoothing prose in real time, my reads are thorough without being slow. Every beta read includes inline comments addressing prose, pacing, and grammar alongside a separate structured report covering my overall reaction, arc and character progression at different stages of the manuscript, and specific recommendations for revision. You will come away knowing exactly what landed and exactly what needs work. I am also a published author and ghostwriter specializing in psychology, relationships, sexuality, parenting, and education. I write and love romance fiction: the slow burn, the banter, the tension that keeps readers turning pages. I am eager to bring that enthusiasm and experience to collaborative romance and fiction projects. I am currently completing my third nonfiction book, Prayer in the Bible: A Study of the Non-Supernatural Effects of Prayer, so you can be confident you are working with a writer who is actively in the craft.

🍌 For brands that want ads that don't feel like ads, sales emails people actually read, and short-form scripts with insane (and weird) storytelling. Trusted by Migaku, Barrister and Mann, Bogey Bros Recent results: 🏆 Increased campaign ROAS by 24% (3.01x → 3.73x) with humor-led creative 🏆 Identified ad concepts reaching 11.44x and 13.25x ROAS 🏆 Generated $7,700+ revenue on less than $1,000 in validation spend 🏆 Won an argument with my therapist I spent years writing thousands of jokes as a professional comedy writer, then found out humor is pretty useful when you're trying to grab a buyer's attention. 🚀 Currently writing video ads, sales emails, and conversion copy for Migaku, a language-learning SaaS. 🎭 Before marketing, I wrote comedy for: • The Daily Mash (UK) • Le Gorafi (FR) • The Hard Times (US) • Topito (FR) 📚 Published a humor book, performed a lot of stand-up, coached comedians, wrote podcast scripts, ... 🛍️ Brands I've worked with: • Migaku • Silvery • 900.care • Incfile (now Bizee) • Barrister and Mann • Bogey Bros “Why should I hire you, anyway? You have long hair and probably smell weird.” 💎"If there were a 6 Star possible I’d give that too - Mathieu has proven to be an essential part of our organization at a most critical stage, applying his unique blend of novel creativity, leadership and engaging writing style to go above and beyond the job description, yielding some incredible results. I only wish there were more freelancers like Mathieu!"💎

I have been telling stories consistently since I was performing puppet shows in the living room as a kid. While my puppet friends and I have parted ways, I still cannot stop myself from seeking out stories and comedy - whether that's in everyday conversations or in my writing. In 2012 I began working on my own personal humor blog satirizing culture, politics, and myself. Working with kids from 2016 to 2019 also gave me an insight into young minds, helping me develop my own sense of creativity and imagination. While studying to get my degree in Writing from Eastern University, I discovered my passion for collaboration as editor-in-chief of Inklings, the college literary magazine. I also had the opportunity to write several short plays alongside the actors that would be performing in them, which was a valuable lesson in learning how to write for and with other people. I am constantly using this skill as a freelancer, balancing my own creative voice with the needs of my clients. My favorite projects have been the children's books, middle grade books, and young adult novels that I have ghostwritten. However, I can write for any age, and have written many genres, from humor, to science fiction, to fantasy, and thriller. For me, the most rewarding aspect of writing is helping others find their voices through believable characters and intriguing plots. This is not the only way to tell a story, though, as I have also helped create various funny scripts for YouTube, the stage, and other types of media. Is your story already written, you just need someone else to take a look and suggest improvements? I can edit it as well, telling you the hard truths while sticking to your vision. If you have a story you'd like to tell, feel free to reach out and I'd love to discuss how I can help. As an editor, I've worked with authors from all over the world, and am currently a freelance editor with Indigo River Publishing based in Pensacola, Florida. With Indigo River, I work as an editor and as an author coach, communicating with writers to help make sure their books are as perfect as they can be - all while sticking with their original visions. I can write at a fixed rate of $0.19 per word (for books of 10,000+ words) or $0.21 per word (for books below 10,000 words). My editing rate is around $0.11 per word, depending on how extensive the edits need to be. I can work on hourly projects too, and I estimate being able to write between 400-800 words per hour and edit between 800-1,600 words per hour.
