I have been working in both chemistry and creative writing for over twenty years. Chemistry: My experience in chemistry spans and industry and academia. I have been an industrial analytical chemist, science writer, trainer/educator of adults, laboratory information systems administrator, SAP QM Key User, and chemical hygiene officer (chemical safety). As an analytical chemist, I have researched, developed and introduced new testing methodologies; acted as a liaison between management and outside laboratories; and worked with production in troubleshooting processes. As an independent chemist, I have provided literature references and explained chemical calculations to entrepreneurs with scientifically based products. As a science writer, I have written chemical explanations and summaries for external customers; laboratory and SAP standard operating procedures; capital expenditure justification; scientific translation from German to English; and more. I have also copy-edited scientific research papers and graduate school applications. As a laboratory information systems administrator, I lead the team to choose and validate a LIMS; documented DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ; trained endusers; created reports and SQL queries; and redesigned parts of the LIMS.
