OPEN TO NEW CLIENTS. Even if the online badge is off. KDP specialist. Editor. Proofreader. Professional handbook formatting. I work promptly and am always willing to go the extra mile for my clients. I have experience editing and proofreading for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting for Kindle or other publishing platforms. I do not use AI in my work and decline to work on projects done with it. I am also highly experienced in line editing for clarity and continuity and an experienced beta reader who can provide detailed feedback for an author. I am an experienced Word user and always work with "Track Changes." I also format handbooks. I do not do plagiarism checks. My experience includes Academic proofreading, editing, formatting, and knowledge of the Chicago Manual of Style, Turabian, MLA, and even Harvard and Vancouver referencing styles. I'm reasonable in price and timing. I want to provide the most constructive feedback a client could ask for and improve the clarity and conciseness of the project I am working on. Please remember that ANY edit or proof always needs at least two rounds. NO ONE can/will catch everything in the first round, therefore, all of my projects include a second proof. Please do not ask me to connect via Telegram or outside the platform. To see an example of my work, from editing and proofreading to formatting for publishing via KDP (print and ebook) please check out the books in my profile and portfolio. I look forward to helping you!

The best part of editing and proofreading for me? I think it's fun! Proofreading and editing were adjunct to all of my jobs in the business world for thirty years. And now, over the past ten years, I've had the opportunity to freelance proofread and edit projects as varied as business books to cookbooks to crime novels to studies in other forms of consciousness. I've been working with a lot of first-time authors and find that very rewarding as well. As an author myself, I know the kind of dedication, creativity and doubts that we all have had to deal with in order to bring our works of art to fruition. But then there's the reticence to share it with a third-party professional, a whole new set of eyes, whom you hope and pray will assist you in framing and tweaking and polishing your art into something the whole world will appreciate. My goal is to do just that for you and still keep your voice, your magic, and your goals intact. I recently moved to Nashville to teach young singer/songwriters how to be entertainers. I've written two books on the subject. I have self-published both books utilizing Amazon's Kindle format and print-on-demand. I've just updated the 38th version of my current book; I am forever editing and updating it, making it better. I work out of my home in Nashville and I can be reached anytime between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. Central Time, seven days a week, which allows me to adjust to the schedules of my clients in all US time zones. Reading, while spiffing up other people's writings as well as my own, are my passions. Fun fact: I was my elementary school's spelling bee champion two years running!

I provide a wide range of writing and editing services: proofreading, copy editing, grammar and syntax review, content rewriting, line editing, and developmental editing of academic, nonfiction, financial, tax, and legal projects. I also index books, record for Radio Talking Books and record audiobooks for Audible and Librivox. Since 2020 I have edited more than a dozen nonfiction books, three book-length dissertations, more than 50 academic journal articles, numerous master’s theses and other shorter works, and several white papers. As a retired attorney, judge, and business school professor, I've applied my expertise to subjects ranging from an analysis of the UK's system of dual-class shares, to whether the legal definition of genocide should encompass political grounds, to the environmental aspects of fast fashion, and everything in between. I recently edited and indexed a book on the unique problems of employing those with criminal histories, which was published in 2024 by Springer Nature. I have also edited nearly a dozen travel and how-to books for CZYK Publishing, an independent publisher in the United States. I have extensive experience, and particular expertise, in working with clients for whom English is a second (or third) language. I edit in MS Word and return for each project a redline with my suggested edits and explanatory comments and, when appropriate, a clean copy ready for use. I have also edited in Google Docs and in Adobe. I have certificates in editing from the University of Washington and from the University of Chicago, a doctorate in accounting/business/economics from the University of Minnesota, and a law degree from the University of Michigan. I would love to speak with you about how I can help you make your writing clear, concise, and compelling. As a first step, let's schedule an interview to discuss your project!

Scholars put years of research into their work. My job is to help them communicate that research clearly, persuasively, and accessibly. As a PhD-trained historian and professional copyeditor with extensive experience working with university presses, academic journals, and research institutes, I edit with close attention to authorial voice while ensuring precision, readability, and coherence. I take on projects that have completed peer review and are entering final editorial preparation. At this stage, I provide: * Sentence-level editing for clarity, syntax, and flow * Consistency and accuracy across arguments, terminology, and structure * Alignment with house or journal style (Chicago, APA, MLA, and discipline-specific variants) * Citation style enforcement * Style sheet development for key editorial decisions * Final preparation for submission or production I edit texts across the humanities and social sciences, including interdisciplinary and theoretically complex material. If you are preparing a manuscript for submission to a press or journal, or working within an institutional or production context, I’d be happy to discuss your project.
