An award-winning writer with nearly two decades of experience, my stories and articles have been featured in everything from graphic novels and magazines to newspapers and websites. I have a talent for making lesser-known stories come alive and have put my writing and research skills to use exploring such wide-ranging topics as obscure adventure sports, scientific innovators and pioneers, and political leaders that have reshaped the world. While contributing to projects as short as single page comic strips and as long as full-length graphic novels, my work has regularly dealt with subjects both serious and sublime and I have received particular acclaim for my humor and dialogue. With a bachelor degree in political science and an extensive editorial background, I can offer a wide-range of writing services and a quick turnaround for tight deadlines.Humor Writing

Hello and thank you for reading my profile! I'm fluent in English and I've been writing since I was very young. Through my teenage years, I spent weeks at a time mastering Photoshop, gaining most of my skill from "professional pictures" created to add realism to the virtual horses on Horseland.com (RIP). I am an author on softwarehow.com, currently working part time with disabled clients, and write for two YouTube channels, although I've written for more websites as well. One YT channel is fictional stories of infidelity that end with hopeful advice, and the second is movie recaps. I enjoy writing scripts, content, creative stories, speeches, articles, reviews, walking-tours, and ghost stories. I love using Photoshop and am looking for graphic design employment. I've designed my own cartoon characters and their environments, all on Photoshop with the help of blank puppets to make it compatible with Character Animator. I can also do copy-editing, proofreading, and simply provide feedback. I love working with other people and communicating with them to discover their goals, desires, or expectations. I am passionate about writing, graphic design, sewing, cooking, speaking, teaching, and learning. My career on UpWork is just beginning. I'll always be sure to respond in a timely manner.Humor Writing

I have been telling stories consistently since I was performing puppet shows in the living room as a kid. While my puppet friends and I have parted ways, I still cannot stop myself from seeking out stories and comedy - whether that's in everyday conversations or in my writing. In 2012 I began working on my own personal humor blog satirizing culture, politics, and myself. Working with kids from 2016 to 2019 also gave me an insight into young minds, helping me develop my own sense of creativity and imagination. While studying to get my degree in Writing from Eastern University, I discovered my passion for collaboration as editor-in-chief of Inklings, the college literary magazine. I also had the opportunity to write several short plays alongside the actors that would be performing in them, which was a valuable lesson in learning how to write for and with other people. I am constantly using this skill as a freelancer, balancing my own creative voice with the needs of my clients. My favorite projects have been the children's books, middle grade books, and young adult novels that I have ghostwritten. However, I can write for any age, and have written many genres, from humor, to science fiction, to fantasy, and thriller. For me, the most rewarding aspect of writing is helping others find their voices through believable characters and intriguing plots. This is not the only way to tell a story, though, as I have also helped create various funny scripts for YouTube, the stage, and other types of media. Is your story already written, you just need someone else to take a look and suggest improvements? I can edit it as well, telling you the hard truths while sticking to your vision. If you have a story you'd like to tell, feel free to reach out and I'd love to discuss how I can help. As an editor, I've worked with authors from all over the world, and am currently a freelance editor with Indigo River Publishing based in Pensacola, Florida. With Indigo River, I work as an editor and as an author coach, communicating with writers to help make sure their books are as perfect as they can be - all while sticking with their original visions. I can work on hourly projects (I estimate being able to write between 450-900 words per hour and edit between 900-1,800 words per hour), or write at a fixed rate of $0.18 per word (for books of 10,000+ words) or $0.20 per word (for books below 10,000 words). My editing rate is around $0.09 per word, depending on how extensive the edits need to be. Thanks!Humor Writing

Writing is who I am, at least as much as it is what I do. Hemingway called the novel idiom “a movable feast,” and I would echo that for the art of writing itself, all of it, and every sentence of its process, regardless of format, genre, length. As food fuels the human body, words set the soul ablaze. It is a fire I cannot feed fast or full enough. What I love most is the degree of perpetual difficulty involved in the process of developing and honing the craft. At once an adventure of joy and pain, sadness and euphoria, misery and happiness, dusk and dark and dawn alike, the words are the endless quest I value above all others. And because I do, every project I write lives and breathes life all its own. In the end and forever, the tough choices are deceptively simple: It is all about what you value and how much, what you can do and how well, what you can live with and how long. This is the foundation of my work. I refuse to throw empty words at blank pages. My mission is, as it always has been, to discover the truth within the words, then hold on tight. In the balance of the bargain, I've written plenty, and I'll write until it's over. All told, as Malcolm Gladwell’s classic *Outliers* confirms, a writer needs to develop for ten thousand hours to clear the threshold of mastery. It follows, while I have logged the specified time behind honest keys, because I believe in my work, the final word on its quality is for you. What I would like you to know about my work is the character of my commitment: I devote an ethic of quality to the craft that I rarely see. As such, when I’m in the work, I take pride in writing beyond the standard. As Super Bowl Champion Mike Tomlin, head coach of my Steelers suggests, “The standard is the standard.” To this, shoving prodigy Paul Skenes of my Pirates adds, “The standard never sleeps.” —The Standard is The Standard and The Standard Never Sleeps.— For the words themselves, the standard is, as it should be: The pursuit of greatness. At the peak of the precipice, every letter lives and dies by the standard. And ever thus does the writer. The journey there is where we truly live, in that state of hurtling evolution, the confluence of love, passion, dreams — the place where the end is the beginning and beginnings never end. That's where you'll find me. And you're free to reach out to me with project details anytime. I'll be happy to chat with you. See you in the pages, —MDA, Pittsburgh, 8.2.24— The Eight Pillars I prize more than any others: Love, Passion, Dreams, Memories, Gifts, Worthiness, Legacy, Selfless Immortality. As a child I was aware of very little early on, and then everything in an instant. My favorite memories are my childhood summers, whiling away carefree days cloudbusting and hunting for golf balls — prizing any color besides plain white — in the not-quite-thousand-acre wood behind my parents' modest suburban home. More than anything else outside of pure love, I spent my childhood nights watching classic movies, as many as possible, and as many times as my parents and siblings would allow. Forrest Gump is #1 all-time for me. —Life is about what you value and how much, what you can do and how well, and what you can live with and how long. The rest is the stories. © MDA, 2024.
