I am a former attorney with over 30 years experience looking to assist lawyers in their practice. I have earned a "top rated" status from Upwork. I have experience in both civil and family law and criminal defense. I have handled both state and federal cases in both civil and criminal areas. I am also a former prosecutor having handled major crimes. I have been a certified circuit court civil and family law mediator as well. I am also skilled in writing contracts and property leases. I have full access to West Law and conduct legal research routinely. Although no longer licensed to practice at this time, I currently assist attorneys in various states around the country in the preparation of their complaints, memorandums, discovery and all litigation related matters. Just send me a message if you'd like to discuss a potential contingency claim - there's no charge for that. If you need transactional or document work, expect to pay $150 to $350/hour. The rate is highly dependent on the nature of the work. I try to reply quickly; if I'm not interested in your work, I'll do my best to let you know quickly. I take my ethical obligations seriously - this means that your privacy is paramount; similarly, I won't file something in court that is meritless. US-based. Mostly federal litigation - FCRA, FDCPA, FLSA, DJA, EEOC, TCPA, etc. Lots of arbitration/mediation experience as well. Likewise, I enjoy appellate work addressing narrow questions of law - circuit split issues, regulatory challenges, etc. I.e., does the FLSA posting requirement require actual posting? (something I'm currently challenging) What is 'de minimus' off the clock work when it results in millions of dollars of annual savings to the employer? A lot of this work is performed on contingency and some is done pro bono. Likewise, if I'm doing defense or contract work (buy/sell, NDAs, employment agreements, etc.), I charge anywhere from $250 to $450 per hour, depending on the nature of the work. I attended GWU Law School in Washington, DC and am licensed in Alabama and Texas. My undergrad was TCU in Fort Worth, TX. I've worked in the US Department of Labor and the US Senate Joint Economic Committee. I spent 15 years buying, managing and selling franchise auto dealerships (CDJR, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes, Nissan) and still do a bit of buy/sell work in that area, as well as consumer complaints re auto purchases and FCRA/FCDPA violations.
