My Ph.D. is in social work, and I have an MA in public policy, and a BA in political science. My publications include nine peer-reviewed academic journal articles and a book on adoption. I specialize in social science data analysis (mainly using SPSS), evaluation, instrument development, literature reviews, report writing, article writing, web content writing, and more. My key areas of interest include mental health, child welfare, and spirituality but I am also interested in and knowledgeable about politics and government, sociology, social policy, poverty, substance misuse, and gender equality. Projects I enjoy working on include peer reviewed journal articles, federal funding proposals, articles for the general public, and white papers. I am open to working on a wide range of short-term and longer-term projects. I enjoy working with people from a wide variety of academic and cultural backgrounds; knowledge sharing and support are always a top priority. There are a few things I DO NOT do including write sections of theses or dissertations. That is called plagiarism. I also DO NOT ghost write. My fees are flexible for nonprofits.

An attentiveness to user experience has been a guiding theme in my career as a researcher, strategist, educator, and instructional designer. I was trained as a PhD-level anthropologist to see a holistic picture of the human experience through a variety of research methodologies, and to use the data to tell engaging stories about those human experiences. As a seasoned User Researcher and social scientist, I bring a comprehensive understanding of user research methodologies tailored to identify user pain points and drive actionable business insights. Trained in holistic research analysis, I excel at cross-comparing qualitative and quantitative data sources to tell a complete story about why a business phenomenon is happening. My dual experience as a researcher and instructional designer has shaped me into a data storyteller, able to craft research insights into compelling, engaging, and empathy-inspiring narratives for diverse stakeholders. My natural curiosity and passion for optimizing experiences is an asset not only for my clients' customers, but also for my collaborators.

I am a Ph.D. from the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada (see my diploma below). My work focuses on advising, tutoring, helping, and supporting Master's and Doctoral dissertations in Human and Social Sciences. This type of coach allows me to exchange opinions and suggestions with my students. I also have extensive experience in Qualitative Data Analysis: Phenomenology, Grounded Theory, Content and Thematic Analyses, Oral History, and Narratives are my specialties. Codification and categorization processes and hermeneutic analysis and interpretation are fundamental to getting data meaning and obtaining research significance. Academic writing is also my specialty. I can collaborate and support you in many of your projects by revising dissertations' chapters correcting and reviewing research articles intended for publication. My goal is to encourage my students in their study process and facilitate their path to achieving a master's degree or doctorate. Please note that I do not make grammatical revisions or edits. Likewise, I can write articles for web pages/blogs in French and Spanish. Finally, the translation from English to Spanish and from French to Spanish does not represent any problem for me since these are tasks that I frequently do.

Most research confirms what a team already suspects. The work worth paying for finds what isn't obvious: the structural gap a whole category takes for granted, the need a user can't yet name, the distance between what people say and what they actually do. My background is in qualitative social science and anthropology, with an M.A. from the University of Chicago and a sole-authored article in a peer-reviewed journal. That training is where UX research came from, and it's how I approach both user and market problems: behavior and workarounds as the real evidence, cultural and competitive forces as the context behind them. A sample competitive assessment I ran on AI coding tools makes the approach concrete. The consensus held that slow organizational adoption came down to security reviews and procurement friction. The behavioral evidence pointed elsewhere. Developers were quietly running two or three tools at once, which put the real barrier in trust, somewhere the procurement story never reached. One reframe, actionable across product, positioning, and go-to-market. On Upwork I've synthesized interview transcripts into two-page client reports for a research firm serving sales and marketing leaders, working from moderator notes and raw transcripts to draft key takeaways, pull supporting quotes, and check AI-generated summaries against what was actually said. I've also delivered a five-page website audit documenting performance and user experience issues, and a design evaluation contract comparing and assessing website designs, both rated 5.0. My methods run to unmoderated tree tests and surveys, moderated structured interviews, desk and competitive research, and descriptive analysis in R. Before freelancing full time I spent over a year as a field interviewer on a large longitudinal health study, recruiting and interviewing participants under an approved research protocol. What I deliver: User research Competitive landscape analysis Market opportunity assessments Customer demand analysis Trend and opportunity mapping Everything comes with cited sources, shown reasoning, and a clear point of view. If the evidence doesn't support the conclusion you were hoping for, I'll tell you that too.
