I need an intriguing, inviting, nontraditional book cover for my fantasy novel called "The Glory Rites." This novel follows three main female characters: a failed queen around 50 years old, her spoiled princess daughter who gets sold by her father to a barbarian enemy, and a one-breasted thirty-ish tribal chieftain. There are three main male characters: a charismatic prophet/leader, a warrior chieftain, and an aged sorcerer. Three themes drive this story. One is the invasion of a decadent culture by barbarian herding tribes motivated by religious fanaticism. Another is the psychological development of each of the main characters over time and through violent occurrences. The third explores the mysterious overlap between magic and religion.
This is a fantasy novel by genre, but while the plot involves magical events, the meat of the story has to do with the way the characters react to the conflict in their lives. I've worked hard to avoid stereotypes and have not patterned this plot on other novels in this genre. No quests. No magical creatures. No easy answers. Lots of personal struggles to find the right path.
I'm a writer, not a graphic artist. I have no idea what you need to make a powerful cover, but I do know I'd like the cover to make someone want to open the book and start reading. The book will be published as an e-book on Amazon and as a paperback using Createspace. If our collaboration works out, I will be needing a second cover for the prequel to "The Glory Rites" which is written but will come out after I finish getting this one online.
