As a result, I know what a serious investor, commercial bank or other funder will require in a complete investor presentation or business plan before they will even consider providing you with the money you need to build your business. In close collaboration with you I will create these documents and the financial forecasting/budgeting tools you, your investors or your banker require. (A due diligence review by an angel investor group of a recent client's application package said it was "...one of the few combinations of documents that we reviewed from a potential client where all components of a well-thought out business model were present.") Whether you need only a detailed financial model or both a model and full business plan or investor presentation package (including pitch deck, cap table, etc.), you can see samples of previous projects in my Upwork profile. I will build your Microsoft Excel-based financial model using my very robust and fully customizable proprietary template. This template, developed over many years of real world use, helps assure your own forecast's accuracy while also saving you significant time and money in development. (If you don't have access to Excel, let me know and I'll arrange access for you while we work together.) When your financial model is complete, you will be able to change any assumption in the Model and the effects of that change will instantly flow throughout all elements of the Model. Any user can easily test all of the financial effects of any assumptions about revenue, profit margins, unit sales, pricing, operating expenses, fixed assets, equity and debt. You or your investor/banker can use the model to easily do unlimited "What If?" testing, sensitivity analysis or breakeven analysis. (Let me know if you will require inventory tracking or a balance sheet. Most companies I work with do not and it is not included in my project pricing unless you specifically request it.) For the text and graphics (charts, pictures, tables, etc.) in your plan, presentation or pitch deck I will use Microsoft Office software. (If you need specific advanced graphic skills for your document(s), you will need to hire a specialist graphics person.) Typically, the time needed to complete a detailed corporate financial model for one product in one market is about 15 - 18 work hours (add about 20% - 25% for a start-up, subscription-style revenue, a balance sheet or inventory management). A full business plan or investor presentation comprising 15 – 25 pages of text and graphics typically requires 15 - 25 hours of work over three to six weeks to create, depending on how quickly you can respond to my daily questions during the project, the complexity of your business, how much text you add to the business plan versus how much original text I have to create, etc. If you are planning to create a new company whose industry you have no experience in, the time required for completion will typically be greater than for an established company with existing operations. I can begin work on your project as soon as you wish once your payment method is verified by Upwork. If you would like me to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA), that is not a problem. If you need a pitch deck, that will flow easily once your business plan or investor presentation is complete. My basic average hourly rate is $69 - $89/hr., depending on the complexity of the work required. Minimum Charges: Per Project - 4.0 hours; Per Work Session: 10 minutes. Premium for urgent completion (8 calendar days or less): 30%, 48-hour Rush Projects: 100% premium. I have significant expertise in the FinTech, SaaS, Ecommerce, Franchise, Manufacturing/logistics, and Energy industries. I believe in the mantra: "Garbage in, garbage out". Building a financial model/analyzing any type of financial data is pointless if you don't first understand the economics of the underlying business. I seek to understand the message behind the numbers and build models that demonstrate that message without needless complexity. Every business is unique and the model I build for you will be too. My goal is to capture the forces that drive your business in a succinct, professional, and user-friendly form that will produce real insights about the nature of your pricing, operations, and scale. Pricing: New models: New models are priced on a fixed-price basis, with premiums being added for complexity and quick turn arounds. This ranges from $1,500-$4,000. The fixed-price includes an initial planning sessions, the first draft of the model, and a loom video walking you through every component of the model. After the first draft has been submitted, all subsequent changes will be billed on an hourly basis. The first draft typically encompasses 80-90% of total work. The first draft typically takes one week to complete, but for a premium price, I am able to turn around models in 2-3 days. Hourly work: hourly work at my profile rate is completed on a first come, first serve basis. Please allow for 2-3 business day turn arounds for requests at this rate. Given the volume of requests I receive, daily iterations are generally not possible. If you would like quicker turn arounds, I offer a priority rate 20% higher than my profile rate. If you hire me at this rate, I will prioritize your requests above all projects at my profile rate and can offer turn around times of 1-2 business days. FAQ's: Q: Do you build 3-statement models? A: Yes! ALL of my models roll-up to 3 balancing financial statements. This is an important quality control check that I use to error-proof my models. For that reason, I am unwilling to build income statement models (no balance sheets/statement of cash flows). Q: Can you provide non-modeling services (pitch decks, accounting, equity research)? A: As a freelancer, my strategy has been to focus on my area of max value-add, which is financial modeling. This has allowed me to scale my skillset to a high level. I am extremely efficient at modeling and am able to add significant value relative to my fees. Although I am capable of building pitch decks and completing other tasks that are expected of generalist financial analysts, my value add is much lower and time spent on these projects takes away from my capacity to take on modeling projects. Thus, I generally do not accept non-modeling requests. If your project includes a non-modeling component, I would recommend hiring a freelancer who specializes in those tasks for that portion of the project, as they will be a better value than me. Q: I already have a model. Can you update it? A: It is almost always the case that building a new model from scratch will be quicker and of a higher quality than attempting to modify an existing model that I didn't build. Thus, I am unwilling to work with existing models. However, an existing model can serve as an excellent starting point for collecting key inputs and planning a new model. Q: Are you available for model updates after the initial model is built? A: Yes! The vast majority of my clients are long-term relationships that began with an initial model build. Once your model is built, I am available to provide ongoing support at a cost that is much lower than hiring a full-time FP&A employee.
