I had been unfamiliar with fintech, but within a few months of online research and fact-checking, I got a firm grasp on the subject. The time spent with PlasBit added a new skill to my portfolio: financial writing. I came up with novel takes on familiar topics, with my all-time favorite article being "Mt. Gox Collapse, the Titanic Disaster of Crypto Exchanges." In that article, I did some clever storytelling and creative writing to compare the collapse of a crypto exchange to the sinking of a massive ship. I described in detail the signs of failing systems and the psychology of people trapped in them, showcasing my skills in financial writing without using financial jargon. I do my research and writing the old-fashioned way, without the use of LLMs, because I don't trust their output. I was actually able to beta-test ChatGPT in early 2023 thanks to one of my clients giving me access via VPN, and I discovered it hallucinates and gaslights the user. This hasn't changed, and all LLMs do it. The problem is that the companies behind LLMs have programmed them to be sycophantic, so many people have been gaslit into thinking LLMs are reliable and authoritative. I was able to immediately see through LLMs because I am a technology power user. When an LLM tells me something, I can immediately fact-check it.
