I have focused on AI agents since 2022, especially systems that use tools, retrieve and process documents, run longer workflows, generate structured reports, automate browser or desktop tasks, and interact over voice. Most of my work is beyond the basic chatbot stage. I build custom agent orchestration and integrations, work with existing frameworks such as LangGraph when appropriate, and debug systems that work in a demo but run into problems with real data, batches, concurrency, latency, or production edge cases. Recent projects have included a medical document-review workflow with multi-stage retrieval, financial analysis and presentation generation for commercial real estate, computer-use agents, and a local GPU/SIP voice-agent stack for outbound calls. I created an open-source, plugin-driven agent framework called MindRoot, which I use as a development platform and as a way to build reusable integrations. Clients do not need to adopt it. I am comfortable working in an existing Python or JavaScript stack, using another agent framework, or extracting only the relevant components into a standalone client-owned project. I have experience with voice agents, including an end-to-end voice stack from agent harness to local device inference (STT-LLM-TTS) to SIP (so it does not require providers for inference).

Greetings potential clients, Legacy MS Access application draining your team's time? Struggling with a database that has grown beyond what its original design can handle? Need a new system built from scratch based on your requirements? That's where I come in. I'm a senior software engineer with 22+ years of specialized MS Access development experience and 27+ years in IT. My specialty: taking aging Access applications and modernizing them without disrupting your business. Career highlight: I converted Whitley Manufacturing's UA Corporate Accounting system from Access 97 to Access 2019 with a SQL Server 2019 backend - 60+ modules, 1M+ lines of VBA, split front-end/back-end architecture. The system continued running production accounting throughout the conversion. Core services: - MS Access application modernization (Access 97, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, 365 - all versions) - New MS Access applications built from your business requirements - MS Access to SQL Server upsizing with linked tables and pass-through queries - Advanced VBA development including error handling, class modules, COM/Office automation - Split front-end/back-end architectures for multi-user environments - Complex query optimization and performance tuning - Office Automation (Excel, Outlook, Word) - Custom label printing, FTP, web integrations, and third-party API connections - Database design, normalization, and indexing strategy My approach: understand your actual business need first, then deliver reliable software that outlives the project. You get honest scoping and steady communication throughout. Available for remote engagements ranging from short-term projects to ongoing maintenance. Time zone: Eastern (US). Ready to discuss your project? Send an Upwork message with a brief description of what you're working with, and I'll respond with specific next steps. Thanks for reading. Richard G Taylor God Bless.

I help businesses untangle complex processes, data, and systems when the obvious solution is not working. My strength is learning how a business actually operates, identifying where processes or systems are breaking down, and designing practical solutions that fit the organization—not forcing the organization to fit the technology. I work across business process improvement, data architecture, systems integration, automation, ERP/workflow assessment, migration planning, governance, and complex troubleshooting. I have deep experience with Microsoft SQL Server and the Microsoft technology stack, but I do not believe every problem requires custom development. I prefer to use existing platforms and native capabilities wherever they make sense, then build custom bridges only where they add real value. Clients often bring me in when: • A process has become overly manual, fragile, or difficult to maintain • Multiple systems need to exchange data reliably • A migration, ERP change, or modernization project needs a practical architecture • A SQL, integration, or data problem has resisted previous attempts to solve it • The business needs technical leadership without hiring a full-time architect • Existing systems need to be documented, simplified, governed, or made more maintainable I have worked with organizations in healthcare, manufacturing, professional services, government, and other industries, often in long-term consulting relationships. My projects have included enterprise data automation, ERP transition planning, API and systems integration, SQL and Azure architecture, data governance, process documentation, custom application development, and technical project leadership. I am especially effective in environments where the business understands its goals but needs someone who can bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution. My goal is not to create unnecessary complexity or long-term dependency. I want to leave clients with solutions that are understandable, maintainable, and appropriate for the way their business actually works.
