I build gameplay systems, multiplayer, and editor tools in Unreal Engine 5. Six years across five studios with shipped credits on Rumbleverse, League of Legends: Wild Rift, and Madden NFL 17.
Most recently, I was Lead Game Designer on a 4v4 multiplayer melee combat title. Before that, I did technical design on unannounced AAA shooters at Pipeworks and Lost Boys Interactive.
What I do:
- Gameplay systems in C++ and Blueprint: combat, Gameplay Ability System (GAS), AI behavior trees, player controls, camera, game feel
- Multiplayer: Unreal replication and networking, online co-op, Steam P2P sessions and matchmaking
- Blueprint to C++ conversion for performance and shipping stability
- Custom editor tools and plugins. I have two published on Fab: BPAuditor and RefLens
- Steam launch prep: SteamPipe packaging, cook profiles, depots, build and test automation
- Systems design: progression, economy, MMR matchmaking, competitive balance
I also shipped my own game. Sorted is a 1-4 player online co-op title on Steam that I took from prototype to release, including all the networking. I know what it takes to get an Unreal project out the door.
I teach game design at Full Sail University, so you get clear explanations and documented work, not a code dump you can't maintain.
Typical projects: gameplay features, replication fixes, Blueprint audits and refactors, custom editor tooling, Steam launch setup, combat and game feel tuning.

I am a consultant. You bring me in and I solve problems. I have been doing this for over twenty years, and I’m pretty darn good at it, with experience in industries ranging from Healthcare to Manufacturing to Entertainment and more.
I do lots of things:
• I analyze. I look at business processes, workflows, systems, technology, policies and procedures and the overall company environment, and find ways to improve effectiveness, efficiency and morale.
• I develop software. I architect, design and program the database, business logic and presentation layer of systems that support company operations.
• I write. I author corporate policies and procedures manuals, operational audits/assessments, technical documentation and more to provide companies with crystal-clear documents that support their operational and legal requirements.
• I improve you. Your business will run more efficiently, have less ambiguity in operations and will exhibit increased efficiency and profitability when I’m done. That’s the whole point.
My undergraduate degree is a BBA with a concentration in Finance. I started my career in Accounting and Finance and segued into financial systems and subsequently software systems in general. Throughout that evolution I taught myself to program, and am now fluent in a number of programming languages and technologies with an emphasis on Microsoft technologies.
I know Accounting, and can sling debits and credits. I know Finance, and can discount cash flows or analyze arbitrage opportunities or Bollinger bands. I know systems architecture, programming and database design, and can develop front-end/back-end systems and advanced SQL functions and procedures. I have outstanding written and verbal communication skills. I analyze business processes and workflows and find ways to streamline operations.
I understand operations and the real environment within which businesses operate. I’ve worked with experts in disciplines ranging from Accounting and Finance to Lean Manufacturing to Entertainment and more, and can apply these disparate areas of knowledge to your specific requirement. I build software systems to support operations.

Greetings potential clients,
Legacy MS Access application draining your team's time? Struggling with a
database that has grown beyond what its original design can handle? Need
a new system built from scratch based on your requirements? That's where
I come in.
I'm a senior software engineer with 22+ years of specialized MS Access
development experience and 27+ years in IT. My specialty: taking aging
Access applications and modernizing them without disrupting your business.
Career highlight: I converted Whitley Manufacturing's UA Corporate
Accounting system from Access 97 to Access 2019 with a SQL Server 2019
backend - 60+ modules, 1M+ lines of VBA, split front-end/back-end
architecture. The system continued running production accounting throughout
the conversion.
Core services:
- MS Access application modernization (Access 97, 2000, 2003, 2007, 2010,
2013, 2016, 2019, 365 - all versions)
- New MS Access applications built from your business requirements
- MS Access to SQL Server upsizing with linked tables and pass-through
queries
- Advanced VBA development including error handling, class modules,
COM/Office automation
- Split front-end/back-end architectures for multi-user environments
- Complex query optimization and performance tuning
- Office Automation (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Custom label printing, FTP, web integrations, and third-party API connections
- Database design, normalization, and indexing strategy
My approach: understand your actual business need first, then deliver
reliable software that outlives the project. You get honest scoping and
steady communication throughout.
Available for remote engagements ranging from short-term projects to
ongoing maintenance. Time zone: Eastern (US).
Ready to discuss your project? Send an Upwork message with a brief
description of what you're working with, and I'll respond with specific
next steps.
Thanks for reading.

I love MS Access and VBA, they've been my passion for over 25 years and I've become a pro at developing amazing apps and automating.
My apps are top quality: user-friendly, very well thought out, packed with functionality yet simple to use, and are developed with an eye towards minimal clicking and thinking for the user.
Automation and streamlining is a constant theme in everything I do. I believe that you and people in your company shouldn't do ANY manual repeating tasks because they can all be automated.
I'm excellent at automation, I will ask a ton of questions to learn your workflow and will then develop an app that will do most of your work for you.
I can also do anything you need when it comes to updating existing MS Access applications, automating your workflow, converting Excel sheets to MS Access applications, converting MS Access applications to SQL or to newer versions of MS Access, and writing Excel macros.
I'm quick to reply to messages
I'm easy to work with, no condescension here :)
I have many libraries of reusable VBA code, forms, and reports, which greatly speed up development

Let me show you both high performance and maintainability with Microsoft SQL Server. I’ve had over 12 years of experience in back-end SQL Server design and development. Clients and users have been consistently delighted with the results.
I enjoy the creativity of designing and developing solutions—solving your problems and implementing your vision. I also find maintenance and performance optimization both challenging and satisfying. There’s nothing like using my experience to turn a painfully slow feature into a powerful resource for the user.
Even with the best tools and design, many applications will eventually run into acute performance issues: workloads increase, features are added, and previously hidden flaws take center stage. When correcting performance issues, I do a thorough analysis to determine the cause, using corrections that minimize the risk of introducing bugs—or of only partially correcting a problem.
I’ll work with you to achieve your goals. My career has included development, hands-on management, and freelance contracting: you can rely on my project management and communication skills. I’ll get things under control while keeping an eye on maintaining your commitments and plans.
Although I also have extensive experience in C# and ASP.NET front-end web site development, I am currently focusing my Upwork job searches on Microsoft SQL Server database design, development, and performance optimization opportunities.
My software consulting business has been providing solutions for over 25 years. I take pride in understanding how my contributions fit into your business processes and objectives. Although an hourly freelancer, my two largest clients considered me a part of their teams—each extending my contracts to over 12 years. I am currently available for part-time projects, or assignments lasting up to several months.
Please tell me what I can do for you.
