Authentic Japanese product photography for brands who sell matcha, sushi, ramen, Japanese cosmetics, and other culturally rooted products abroad. Beautiful photos are everywhere. But when your product is Japanese, the details matter: the correct way to hold a matcha bowl, the texture of a noren curtain, the steam rising off ramen, the subtle color of Matcha or Hojicha. These are things a photographer needs to have lived, not just researched. I'm an award winning Japanese photographer and product stylist. I built my career shooting product campaigns across beauty, cosmetics, food, and lifestyle brands in Japan, and in 2021 I co authored "Instagram New Product Photo Recipe," a book on modern product photography. Today, based outside Japan, I work as a creative director and stylist, directing a trusted network of professional Japanese photographers on location. This means every project is still guided by someone who understands the culture behind the product firsthand, while being executed by photographers with the right local access, equipment, and studio setups in Japan. What I bring: A lived, firsthand understanding of Japanese food, tea ceremony, and beauty culture, not something learned secondhand. Hands on photography experience of my own, so I know exactly what to direct and how to review results. A curated network of professional Japanese photographers I can assign based on style, location, and product type. Full creative ownership of concept, styling, art direction, and project management, so you get a finished, on brand result without managing multiple vendors yourself. Selected experience: CITIZEN Watch Co., Ltd. (wicca), web and Instagram styling and photography, May 2022 to September 2024. Kanebo (TWANY), FANCL (Calorimit), Vaseline, and Shionogi Pharmaceutical (Cinal products), Instagram styling and photography. Marvesala Co., Ltd., KOALOPOi, Ano Shoten, and Marie Anne, key visuals, web, and Instagram photography and styling. Publications: "Kitchen with a Story" (mook book), stylist. "Instagram: The Recipe for Beautiful Product Photos" (Genkosha MOOK), co author. If you're a brand selling matcha, sushi, ramen, Japanese skincare, or any product where authenticity is part of the story, I would love to direct a team that creates imagery a Japanese customer would recognize as genuine, and that stops international customers mid scroll.
