I've been a published author for decades, with novels, short stories, and reviews to my credit. I am also a developmental editor and ghostwriter with excellent references from my many satisfied clients. The video to the left is a book trailer I created in PowerPoint for JERSEY GHOULS (2018). My first book was, oddly enough, a children’s book, DINOSAUR DRESS UP, published by Tambourine Press (a division of William Morrow) in 1992. Since then, I’ve published many other books, mostly science fiction, fantasy, and horror. I’ve also ghostwritten more than a dozen works of science fiction, fantasy, memoirs, and cozy mysteries. My short story "In the Conservatory" was nominated for the Pushcart Prize. In 2024, Regal House began publishing my trilogy of Young Adult books set in ancient Egypt. The first book is titled MURDER IN MENNEFER. The second, IMHOTEP AND THE QUEST TO KUSH, will be published in June of 2025. I’m a trained artist, and have had hundreds of drawings, paintings, and illustrations to my credit, over a freelance career spanning 50 years. I’ve designed everything from Christmas cards to tattoos. I'm an enthusiastic collaborator, and take pride in delivering projects on or ahead of deadline. I live in Rockingham County, North Carolina with my wife and occasional collaborator, novelist Grace Marcus. I also play a mean kit of drums and performed in bands for over five decades. My pledge to clients: I will never use ChatGPT in any aspect of my work for you. What you will get is 100% Al Sirois. Some recent references: Thank you for your creativity and professionalism. A M-K Allen S is a very creative writer. His storylines are interesting and intriguing. He meets all deadlines, communicates well, collaborates in a collegial way, and produces an entertaining story. I highly recommend Allen and would be happy to hire him again. J W A big thank-you to Allen for a job well done in editing my story and adding some much needed depth to some of its characters. I'm an established ghost-writing expert with a strong track record of creating successful books for my clients, including a dozen non-fiction books and over forty works of fiction. Seven years as a full-time writer have brought fluency in the whole book-writing process, from brainstorming and outlining, through to drafting, editing, and preparing the book for publication. My projects are marked by meticulous research and preparation, close attention to detail and creative flair, my aim being always to make each new client a long-term collaborator. My non-fiction clients reflect my broad interests and have included senior business figures, a noted law firm, retirement brokers, and other collaborators who requested my help in delivering high-quality, dependable guidance on meditation, self-improvement, nutrition, and the importance of sleep. Recent projects have included a book on leadership skills based on interviews with many executives, and another which provides friendly life advice for business school graduates, entitled 'The Nicest Folks on the Top Floor,' written with my friend and collaborator, Kishore Gundala. A professional educator for 15 years, I’ve also written almost two hundred articles in which I share practical classroom techniques with other ESL teachers, and I’m working alongside a noted educational psychologist to complete a major work on Emotional Intelligence. Mystery and science-fiction novels have been my main focus. I completed a sequence of eleven ‘cozy mystery’ stories set in my native UK, while my sci-fi clients commissioned two trilogies of historical sci-fi novels and other works which tackled the rise of sentient Artificial Intelligence. I’m currently working to complete a YA novel and a sweeping sci-fi drama, collaborating closely with my clients to exactly ensure their desired outcome. These successes have secured ‘Top Rated Plus’ status at Upwork, where I’ve developed a strong reputation for collaboration, research, creativity and consistency (see reviews). When not writing, I enjoy movies and traveling, as well as being an enthusiastic (non-professional) chef and a (formerly professional) musician. I look forward to learning about your creative plans and to helping you bring them to fruition.Science Fiction

"It was a pleasure working with David. I highly recommend David for your project needs." As an award-winning and top-rated writer and editor, I have been working consistently, independently, and professionally now for over three decades as a freelance ghostwriter. From memoir to historical fiction, romance and novels pertaining to Americana, to cultural conflicts, whistleblower books, articles and bios about the people who contribute to society in meaningful ways - all the way to the heroes and villains who are our public servants and all of those in between, I have become adept at structuring universally-appealing and highly successful manuscripts. Writing has been my passion and livelihood for over 35 years. During this time, I have also helped other writers by proofreading, enhancing, advising, and editing their works. I hold a B.A. from New York University and a Masters Degree in Education from Penn State University, and was a University Honors Scholar with specialties in human development, the Great Books of Western Culture, persuasive writing, Freudian Psychology, cultural affairs, and theatrical play writing. My work as a family therapist for twenty years has helped me to understand families in a way most writers cannot. I have a knack for capturing the collective meaning behind ordinary lives while making the simplest of scenes my most remarkable. Please see the reviews of my work here on Upwork, which frequently call to mind my innate ability to effortlessly structure universally appealing themes, events, and characters. Finding success early on way back when I was getting my bachelor's degree, I quickly earned a reputation for producing great and epic family dramas, engaging romance, memoirs which took a life well-lived and turned it into a hero’s journey, historical fiction from vast periods across the globe, slices of Americana, many times involving ordinary characters finding themselves in extraordinary circumstances. As a ghostwriter, my published works include more than fourteen memoirs, eight romance, five historical dramas, and eight crime-dramas/legal thrillers. I use a flexible writing style which incorporates a variety of the finest techniques. My writing becomes powerfully persuasive and magnetic by drawing the reader into the world we will create. Depending upon the type of project, I always keep the writing interesting and moving, while utilizing the best and most efficient resources. Not only a writer; I am a firm editor and also writing coach. With memoirs, phone calls at first with my client are a good way to communicate until we both feel we have discussed the project with clarity. At that time, documents, transcripts and/or audio files will supplement our calls and would be the remainder of what I would need! Besides being a ghostwriter, I have also worked professionally as a project manager and have supervised and spearheaded, utilizing professional editors and writers, manuscripts of fiction, social sciences, church history, art, research and development, social ills, autobiography, short story collections, cultural affairs, and Americana. Among my most recent successes was a memoir which remained on the best-seller list for months on Amazon about a boy escaping Communist terrorism with his family only to come to America, and later be drafted to fight Communists in Vietnam. An ordinary citizen rising up in an epic fight for freedom against colonization at the hands of an imperialistic nation became a best-selling historical fiction. A highly-awarded American success story dealt with a young woman overcoming poverty, cyclical familial abuse, and addiction, who eventually finds the man of her dreams and turns her life around, rising to being CEO of a multinational company. Some of my other recently successful books are a dystopian fantasy love story wherein the heroine overcomes prejudice and a controlling family in order to lead a band of warriors to defeat an evil empire. My last two ghostwritten books have gotten great reviews and are best-sellers on both Amazon and Barnes and Noble. David "David came to the rescue when I was standing at the crossroads with my novel. At that time, my subplot was not meshing as it should. I researched literally dozens of ghostwriters until I came across David, who had glowing reviews and exceptional credentials. Later, I discovered the secret to his success was not only a stellar background, but his most important quality was that he is a "problem solver." I have discovered that he is able to bring his expertise to the table in many genres. He was able to proofread my novel to see what else needed to be eliminated and added, and then discussed with me several directions we could take with the scenes in question. David is definitely someone you want to have writing your book! Many thanks to him for helping to make my novel so wonderfully complex." :) - KyleScience Fiction

An award-winning writer with nearly two decades of experience, my stories and articles have been featured in everything from graphic novels and magazines to newspapers and websites. I have a talent for making lesser-known stories come alive and have put my writing and research skills to use exploring such wide-ranging topics as obscure adventure sports, scientific innovators and pioneers, and political leaders that have reshaped the world. While contributing to projects as short as single page comic strips and as long as full-length graphic novels, my work has regularly dealt with subjects both serious and sublime and I have received particular acclaim for my humor and dialogue. Hello! I am a writer and editor with more than six years of experience as a hobbyist and professional writer in both fiction and nonfiction. I have an Associate of Science, which focused on literature and English language and composition, as well as public speaking. I also have certifications in SEO and content marketing. I have worked with a range of clients in the gaming and publishing industry to manage and create content for blogs, websites, books, and games. I am an editor for SUPERJUMP Magazine, an award-winning gaming publication based in Australia, and the Social Media Coordinator for District 6 of the Kansas Authors Club. I have hosted two presentations on the business and craft of writing, including a featured presentation on freelance writing at the 2022 Kansas Authors Club Annual Convention (I'll be hosting another workshop this October, an introduction to blogging for businesses). In my personal work, I write poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. My fiction pieces range from science fiction to horror. My poetry is both classical and freeform. My nonfiction pieces are research projects on subjects I find fascinating, cited, sourced, and presented either as an article, blog post, or video essay script. My personal work has been featured by Meadowlark Press, Time Honored Productions, Nymeria Publishing, The Lucky Freelancer, and more. My resume is available upon request. Due to privacy concerns and platform-specific terms and conditions, when requested through Upwork, I am only available for an interview via Upwork. I will not accept an interview via an outside platform. Thanks for reading!Science Fiction

I was a teacher for twenty years, and I have a background in fitness, health, and physical education. I love to study English, and I am interested in proofreading and/or editing for you. I also love to read, so I am always excited about an opportunity to work as a beta reader. My proofreading and editing experience includes fantasy, science fiction, romance, mystery, young adult, and adventure novels. I have also completed edits on articles, workbooks, textbooks, and self-help books. I am open to working on many different topics. Although my areas of expertise are exercise and outdoor activities, I have several hobbies, a wide range of interests, and a desire to continue learning new things.Science Fiction
