Every copywriter on Upwork is about to lie to you. Not on purpose. Most of them believe it. They'll read your job post and tell you the problem is your copy. Of course they will. When all you sell is words, every problem looks like a word problem. Agencies do the same thing with ads. Nobody you can hire gets paid to say "the thing I sell isn't what you need." I'm a copywriter, and here's the thing I'm not supposed to admit: the copy usually isn't the problem. You hired someone decent before, didn't you? The copy was good. But the number still didn't move. And nobody could tell you why. It's because you don't have a copy problem. You actually have a constraint problem. Think of your business as a machine. At any given moment, one part of that machine is the constraint. You find it, fix it, and everything downstream opens up. Fix anything else and you've paid for motion, not money. And one number sits under all of it: what a customer costs you versus what that customer is worth. Every profit problem is one of five constraints dragging that number down. They stack in order. 1️⃣ - Economics. Is a customer even worth more than they cost? Price, margin, the money model itself. This is the one constraint copy will never touch. If this math is bad, no headline on earth saves you. And I'll tell you that on day one instead of selling you ads. 2️⃣ - Acquisition. Are the right strangers becoming leads, cheaply? Who you attract, how you're positioned, the hook that stops the right person. 3️⃣ - Conversion. Do those leads actually buy? Everything after the click lives here. This is where most flat deposits hide. 4️⃣ - Retention. Do they stay and buy again, or leak out the back? 5️⃣ - Compounding. Referrals, word of mouth, brand. The customers you already have making every other rung cheaper, until growth starts feeding itself. So before I write a word, I diagnose. I take your real numbers, Stripe deposits, ad spend, your CRM, and reconcile them line by line. Then I walk that ladder in order until I hit the constraint that's actually capping you. Sometimes the answer actually is conversion copy. Often it isn't. Either way, you'll know for sure. And when the copy is the constraint? Then I write. Research first. Then strategy. Then the copy itself, built from your market and your buyers' own language. Never from recycled swipe files or templates. I'm a one-person, full-stack operator. The offer angle, the landing page, the emails, the follow-up, the tracking. One brain on every piece, so the funnel actually fits together.
