I am Dr. Mohammad Rakib Uddin, a Senior Member of IEEE. Currently, I serve as an Adjunct Professor at the State University of New York (SUNY-University at Albany), NY, and a Senior Photonics Device Research and Development Engineer at The State University of New York Research Foundation/AIM Photonics/NY CREATES, Albany Nanotech Complex, Albany, NY, USA. Prior to joining the State University of New York Research Foundation in 2021, I worked as an academic at a university in Brunei, as a senior research engineer at high tech semiconductor industry in South Korea. I received a PhD degree from KAIST, in optical communication/electronics in January 2010. My PhD study was fully supported by the government of Republic of Korea. After my PhD, I was awarded the Korean Government-Brain Korea 2021 (BK-21) postdoctoral fellowship (Mar 2010 – Aug 2011) at KAIST. From Nov 2011 until Dec 2014, I was a Research Staff Member/Senior Engineer for Samsung Electronics/SAIT, South Korea. During my time at Samsung Electronics, I was involved in the design, process, fabrication, experimentation, and characterization of nano electronics/photonics devices. At Samsung, I was given the opportunity to design, procure, and develop the nanophotonics measurement system laboratory. During this time, I was awarded seven US patents and I also published in Nature Communications. From December 2014 until December 2020, I was an Associate Professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei. I have over 120 articles published in international journals and conference proceedings including seven US registered patents. I have excellent experience in teaching electrical and electronic engineering subjects at the university undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as supervising experience of undergraduate, MSc and PhD students. As a recognition of my excellence in teaching and research, I have been awarded the “University Teaching Excellence Award” as well as the “University Research Excellence Award” in 2017 and 2019, respectively. I have also experience of being involved in management/Administrative roles such as Senate Member, Director of a Centre, Acting Dean and Deputy Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, Research Coordinator, Project Coordinator at University and at Faculty levels. At my early career, I was a lecturer for three years (2003-2006) at a university (CUET) in Bangladesh. I am Involved in community services such as Editor, Reviewer of scientific journals. I am a Member of OPTICA, USA and a Member of SPIE, USA as well.
