Please read completely as many common questions are answered here. Born and raised in Ohio, I am a native English speaker and have a BA in English from Kent State University. For five years, I taught language, reading, and honors creative writing to junior and senior high students, writing my own drama and creative writing curriculum. Over the course of my career, I have released nearly a dozen YA novels, short story collections, a collection of plays, a cookbook, and a book on writing. I have worked as a freelance writer / ghostwriter in both non-fiction and fiction capacities, writing everything from captions and copy to short stories and novels in myriad genres. While my forte is fiction, I do accept non-fiction work. I've created characters and outlines, as well as writing from a provided outline, and can work with as much or as little as the client wishes. All work is 100% original, meaning that unless otherwise instructed by a client, I do not outsource work to other freelancers and I do not use generative AI programs. None of my writing, including any provided samples, were assisted or created by AI. Much of my work as a ghostwriter has made Amazon's top 100 ebook lists at least once, and I have had more than one make USA Weekend's Bestseller list. I have been freelancing since 2002 and have been writing full-time since December 2012. As I sign NDAs with all of my clients and while some do give permission for me to use parts of that work as writing samples, I cannot provide full chapters of any work I have done for clients. I can only provide chapters from my own work, which is all YA. I do not write samples over 500 words on request without payment. I require all communication to be through a messaging platform, which means no phone or Zoom interviews, though I am happy to set a time for an Upwork message chat interview. My current Upwork hourly rate is $40/hr and my current Upwork per word rate is $0.06/word. This is based on my experience and what my current clients are paying. Outlining, story development, and revision options vary for per word / fixed rate work and are not provided without additional compensation. I work on a first-come, first-serve basis, and that comes by contract, not discussion. I can advise what my schedule looks like at any given time, but until a contract is signed and a project accepted, that may change. I do not accept any work that promotes / portrays any of the following in a positive manner: homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, racism, hatred, or blasphemy of any religion.

If your romance or SFF manuscript has a strong concept but something still is not landing, the issue is usually structural. That is where I work. I specialize in developmental editing for romance, fantasy, and science fiction. I help serious authors strengthen story architecture, deepen emotional arcs, and deliver payoffs that build reader loyalty in a competitive market. In romance, I focus on: • Emotional arcs that feel inevitable • Escalating chemistry and tension • A third act that earns its resolution In fantasy and sci fi, I focus on: • Worldbuilding integrated seamlessly into plot • Clear stakes and escalation • Consistent internal logic • Character-driven momentum I do not copyedit grammar. I strengthen the foundation of your manuscript so every scene supports the larger narrative. Professional Background: • Current Developmental Editor at Bold Books, a romance-only publishing house • Former in-house developmental editor at Champagne Book Group • 50+ novels edited across romance and speculative fiction • 100% Job Success on Upwork • Published author with 7 books What you receive: • A strategic editorial letter with prioritized revision guidance • Inline commentary focused on structure, pacing, and character depth • Direct, actionable feedback I take on a limited number of projects at a time to ensure depth of analysis. A 5-page sample edit is available to confirm fit. If you are ready to elevate your manuscript at a structural level, send me a message and tell me about your project.

Your manuscript deserves more than a Word document. I turn author drafts into professionally formatted, publish-ready books for Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and beyond — print, eBook, and full interior layout included. I specialize in helping authors and publishers handle the parts that often delay publication: editing, layout, cover design, and book marketing materials. Whether you're releasing your first book or building your author brand, I make sure every part of your project looks professional and works together. What sets me apart is end-to-end publishing support under one roof. Most freelancers handle formatting or editing — I cover both, plus cover design, EPUB conversion, and promotional visuals. You don't need to coordinate five different people to get your book to market. Every formatting or typesetting order also includes a free promotional design package: a custom bookmark, book teaser graphic, social banner, or launch flyer — my way of helping your book get noticed beyond the pages. A good book isn’t just about the words on the page. Readers notice the formatting, the cover, the flow, and even the promotional materials before they decide to trust your work. That’s why I offer complete publishing support from manuscript preparation to promotion. Here's what I can handle for your project: ✔ Book formatting & typesetting (print and eBook) ✔ Interior layout design for paperback and hardcover ✔ EPUB and Kindle file formatting ✔ Developmental, line, and copy editing ✔ Proofreading and final manuscript polish ✔ Book cover design (front, spine, full wrap) ✔ Book trailer creation ✔ Promotional graphics: launch flyers, social banners, author visuals ✔ Upload-ready files for KDP, IngramSpark, Lulu, Draft2Digital I work across fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, children's books, workbooks, devotionals, journals, cookbooks, and low-content projects. Tools: Adobe InDesign, Affinity Publisher, Vellum, Atticus, Calibre, Canva, Microsoft Word, Reedsy Book Editor. I pay attention to the small details many people skip: margins, page balance, chapter spacing, font pairing, trim size, bleed, paragraph styles, print specifications, and platform compliance. Those details are what make a book feel professionally published. For promotion, I also create visual assets that help your book get noticed, from trailers to flyers to launch graphics that fit your audience and genre. A strong book deserves strong presentation, both inside and outside the pages. 5-star rated on Upwork. Certified book editor and formatter (Authors Den). I pay close attention to the details that separate amateur layouts from professional ones: margins, page balance, chapter spacing, font pairing, trim size, bleed, paragraph styles, and full platform compliance. Those details are what make a reader trust your book before they read a single word. 5-star rated on Upwork. Certified book editor and formatter (Authors Den).
