My past experience has helped me build strong and diverse vocal skills. I can modulate my tone, expression, intensity, emotion to suit most any situation. My past work history (as a counsellor/rehab consultant) has required me to speak empathically with individuals, and that means vocally echoing their tone, emotion, energy, articulation. I have demonstrated the ability to persuade, convince, engage, and calm people. I have also worked as a presenter and educator, and can easily express different emotions in my tone and style, use emphasis within phrases, vary pitch, even simply modulate my volume, in communicating effectively. Maybe even more importantly, I have been a constant storyteller with my kids, nephews and nieces, keeping them engaged, in rapt attention. My ability to articulate carefully and express the feeling in a situation, adjust the speed and tone of my speech to provide emphasis when needed, and change vocal characteristics on demand - e.g., take on different accents and affectations - all suggest to me that voiceover and audiobook performing, voice acting, and acting in general are all roles that prove very well suited to me.
