The project was institutionalized and management and delivery capacity created to ensure the sustainability of the programme. All three phases were evaluated by external international consultants and the success of the programs confirmed. o An INGO has developed a training programme in International Purchasing and Supply Chain Management currently implemented internationally. They contracted me to manage a project aimed at establishing a consultant base supporting private sector trainees of the programme with implementing the newly learnt skills. During the project a consultant training programme was developed and IPSM consultants were trained successfully in six countries. A validation course was successfully completed in India. o After the tsunami of December 2004 a two year donor funded project was established to create an employment service assisting survivors of the tsunami so that they can secure some income to build back their lives. As project manager support systems were created, five branch offices were established, 20 staff trained and a variety of capacity building programs designed and established. During the life of the project 22,000 beneficiaries succeeded to secure gainful employment. In my role as project manager I have gained valuable experience to manage complex, multi-faceted projects, work under pressure, be creative, humble, assertive, goal orientated and achieve the expected outputs within the contracted time frame, with and through the people I worked with. • As Freelance international consultant I completed assignments in seven countries on behalf of my clients: o Designed and developed a case writing workshop that was successfully presented in six countries. o Training and coaching university student studying impact assessments to improve their data collection and analysis skills and report on it to international standards. o Contracted by Department of National Planning to assess proposals from national NGO’s for grant funding from a multi donor economic development fund against a predetermined set of selection criteria and within a three-phase project assessment and selection process. Advise applicants on suitability of their applications and how to improve their proposals using sustainable business management principles and practices. o As ILO certified International Program Implementation Consultant contracted to provide project implementation support and capacity building in Vietnam, Geneva and Kazakhstan. These Freelance assignments together with my educational qualification enabled me to gain valuable practical hands-on skills that served as a solid foundation for my career as project manager and business consultant. • As entrepreneur I funded and established a successful holiday resort on Sabang Island, Indonesia and from 2006 to date managed it on a part-time and full-time basis as assignments allowed.
