Top 1% Expert-Vetted Freelancer. I have a PhD in Computer Science (AI & Machine Learning) and I am a physician. I build custom AI systems with proprietary and public data, including creation of novel datasets and state-of-the-art models. * After a 30-minute to 1-hour initial meeting, I'll craft a clearly written report outlining a unique AI strategy for your project. * For long-term engagements, I implement AI solutions end-to-end, including data collection, data cleaning, novel model design, model implementation and training in Python, and iteration on the modeling and data strategy to achieve excellent performance. * One of my specialties is creating custom models for proprietary datasets, including images, videos, audio recordings, and domain-specific data. Book a 30-minute consultation with me to get immediate answers about your AI project: - How can you leverage AI in your organization? - What kind of AI do you need to solve a particular problem? - Should you use a model like ChatGPT/Claude or do you need a custom model? - What modeling strategy should you use? - How should you collect and annotate data? - How much data will you need? - How should you measure performance? After a consultation I’ll craft a clearly-written report outlining an AI strategy for your project. Specialties: Healthcare AI: I am an expert in healthcare AI, with a unique background that blends clinical understanding from my MD, deep technical expertise from my AI PhD, and business experience. I have completed 100+ engagements across medical specialties including radiology, dermatology, cardiology, mental health, family medicine, surgery, dentistry, physical therapy, women’s health, pediatrics, nutrition, and neurology. I have created datasets and custom models for diverse forms of biomedical data including x-rays, CTs, MRIs, clinical photographs, patient videos, medical audio, medical notes, EHR data, insurance claims, omics data, and more. Computer Vision: I create custom AI models for 2D images, 3D images, and videos on proprietary datasets. I am excited about projects from multiple industries including healthcare, manufacturing, automotive, and agriculture. I have extensive experience with classification, object detection, segmentation, and keypoint detection, to identify and localize abnormalities or features of interest. I developed the first machine learning model in the world to predict multiple abnormalities simultaneously from a CT scan. For a dermatology practice, I built the first CV model to predict Fitzpatrick skin type, pigmentation, redness, and wrinkle severity (mean accuracy 85%)—now a core model at Kesty AI. Artificial Intelligence R&D: I have led multiple AI research projects across industry and academia. I have developed novel AI methods, including HiResCAM, a convolutional neural network explanation method with mathematical guarantees. I have published original research across multiple areas of AI, including computer vision, natural language processing, explainable AI, expert systems, and applied AI. My research papers have been cited over 1,000 times. My healthcare AI blog Glass Box has over 700,000 readers from 185 countries. Natural Language Processing (NLP): I have a deep understanding of large language models (LLMs) like Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and Llama. I have leveraged Transformers and other NLP techniques for numerous applications, including customized chatbots, medical note generation, and structured information extraction. Advising Entrepreneurs: Before focusing on AI consulting, I spent seven years as the founder of a health AI startup. I led my previous company from concept to deployed B2B SaaS product serving medical practices. Our AI history-taking assistant and AI scribe saved clinicians 2+ hours daily. I managed engineering teams of 5-10 (60+ contributors), secured two U.S. patents, and raised competitive grant funding. I enjoy working with entrepreneurs and discussing pitch decks, fundraising, customer discovery, designing an MVP, and evaluating the ROI of an AI product. Hi there! I am an American Native English copy editor and proofreader whose work has been used in/by some of the world's: - ✅ Leading book publishers and news publications (Abrams Books, BBC News, Forbes) - ✅ High ranking academic journals and institutions (ASCE Library, The US Chamber of Commerce, AAAS) - ✅ Top businesses, brands, and websites (PetSmart, Netflix Originals, PILOT Inc.) ...and I’m very excited to help bring your own writing to life today! I provide you with masterful copy editing, error-free proofreading, and professional formatting - all on a fast turnaround time. With me, you can be sure you're getting the highest quality English editing on the market. My editing process is done entirely by hand, combing through each word and every comma to expertly copy edit and transform your writing into the most professional, powerful, and engaging document possible. What separates great editing from good editing isn't just catching errors, but knowing when to hold back. My job isn't to rewrite your work in my voice; it's to find the strongest version of yours and bring it to the surface. After 500+ projects, I've developed an instinct for exactly where a piece loses momentum, where a sentence is working harder than it needs to, and where a single word change makes a paragraph land the way it was always meant to. Some words from a few of my happy clients: ⭐ - "Lindsey was EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend for any of your editing needs. Flexible, intelligent, highly skilled and all around a great person to work with!" ⭐ - "Lindsey did great work, my book went #1 in 12 Amazon Bestselling categories! and his finishing touches were a great investment!" ⭐ - "Lindsey is the quintessential editor. I could not recommend him more. Such a great guy to work with, very detailed, and eager to overdeliver. And overdeliver is what he did. You will not be disappointed by the level of skill and expertise he offers. One of the best people I've worked with here on Upwork." ⭐ - "Lindsey is legit. He said he could tackle my problem editing with his xp and he most certainly did. Laid out his initial opinion and about the time it should take him then went to work. Not only was it effective, it was extremely prompt. If I ever need an editor again he will have first dibs. No question." ⭐ - "Always great working with Lindsey. Turnaround time is super quick and the work is high class." ⭐ - "I cannot say enough about Lindsey's ability to elevate my writing. If you want to communicate clearly and concisely, Lindsey is the writer and editor you need. Thank you again, Lindsey! :)" ⭐ - "As always, brilliant work. I can trust Lindsey with any writing project and know it will come back sounding and looking AMAZING!" Some examples of services I can provide, broken down by category: ACADEMIC: Editing and proofreading, including paper, dissertation, thesis, essay, and research report revisions. APA 6 and 7, MLA, Harvard, and Chicago Manual of Style formatting are all specialties that I can easily handle! ADMISSIONS: School and university admissions essay coaching, MBA, job application, resume, and CV editing; personal statements and statements of purpose AI CONTENT: Editing and bringing a human touch to enhance AI-generated drafts and make them publishing-ready ARTICLES AND BLOGS: Working with you to find your unique author’s voice and help fine-tune your content to be clear and compelling. I'm deeply familiar with AP Style and Chicago (CMOS) best practices, but I can also quickly interface with custom or in-house style conventions! BOOKS: Fiction and non-fiction book editing and proofreading; short story, epic novel, or autobiography BUSINESS: Correspondence (including B2B), marketing material, and product text, as well as corporate websites, internal documents, email campaigns, content and news articles, sales, and newsletters DEVELOPMENTAL: Assessing content at a high level to help develop ideas, structure, and narrative resonance GRANT WRITING: Polishing grant documents to be persuasive, professional, and clear SCIENTIFIC and MEDICAL: Science and medical proofreading, copy editing, and fact-checking TECHNICAL: Technical editing of internal documentation, manuals, whitepapers, and reports WEBSITES: Website content editing and proofreading across all types of genres and design styles - AND MORE (Don't see your project type listed? Reach out - chances are I can help!) I’m also available on retainer for ongoing or high-priority editing needs. Ready to get started? Send me a message with a brief description of your project (document type, word count, and any deadlines I should know about) and I'll get back to you within 24 hours. I'd love to take a look!

Please read completely as many common questions are answered here. Born and raised in Ohio, I am a native English speaker and have a BA in English from Kent State University. For five years, I taught language, reading, and honors creative writing to junior and senior high students, writing my own drama and creative writing curriculum. Over the course of my career, I have released nearly a dozen YA novels, short story collections, a collection of plays, a cookbook, and a book on writing. I have worked as a freelance writer / ghostwriter in both non-fiction and fiction capacities, writing everything from captions and copy to short stories and novels in myriad genres. While my forte is fiction, I do accept non-fiction work. I've created characters and outlines, as well as writing from a provided outline, and can work with as much or as little as the client wishes. All work is 100% original, meaning that unless otherwise instructed by a client, I do not outsource work to other freelancers and I do not use generative AI programs. None of my writing, including any provided samples, were assisted or created by AI. Much of my work as a ghostwriter has made Amazon's top 100 ebook lists at least once, and I have had more than one make USA Weekend's Bestseller list. I have been freelancing since 2002 and have been writing full-time since December 2012. As I sign NDAs with all of my clients and while some do give permission for me to use parts of that work as writing samples, I cannot provide full chapters of any work I have done for clients. I can only provide chapters from my own work, which is all YA. I do not write samples over 500 words on request without payment. I require all communication to be through a messaging platform, which means no phone or Zoom interviews, though I am happy to set a time for an Upwork message chat interview. My current Upwork hourly rate is $40/hr and my current Upwork per word rate is $0.06/word. This is based on my experience and what my current clients are paying. Outlining, story development, and revision options vary for per word / fixed rate work and are not provided without additional compensation. I work on a first-come, first-serve basis, and that comes by contract, not discussion. I can advise what my schedule looks like at any given time, but until a contract is signed and a project accepted, that may change. I do not accept any work that promotes / portrays any of the following in a positive manner: homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, racism, hatred, or blasphemy of any religion.

Hi! I'm Elizabeth and I've been delighting clients on Upwork since 2017. With over two decades of experience throughout the freelancing world, I work hard to bring my clients only the very best, earning only the highest accolades—and I intend to keep it that way! I am available for limited calls, but please note that a disability does sometimes make me very hoarse. If you would like to join my ever-growing list of happy customers, please peruse the list of experience down below. Typical turnaround for 1,000 words is 24-48 hours. Editing and proofreading are available in any genre. Thank you and have a great day! In Publishing I've worked with HarperCollins, Plovertrot Press, and dozens of self-publishing talents. Editing, formatting, ghostwriting, and proofreading in all genres, with the majority of my experience backing it. In Copywriting Ty, Inc., Johnson & Johnson, Amazon, Target, Wal-Mart, At Home, AAFES/The Exchange, and numerous others have called on me to answer their copywriting needs. My conversion rates are high, my turnaround is low, and I keep businesses on the go! In Blogging and Internet Articles SEO is my best friend! You've read my articles everywhere—you just don't realize it. Past clients include Murdoch's, Tractor Supply Company, Sport Dog Food, Disney, Coca-Cola, The Home Depot, Lawrence Moves, Whole Foods, and so many, many others. I'm comfortable in any genre, from pets to finance and back again. In Branding, Marketing, Public Relations, and Business Planning Just getting off the ground? Do you need a new look? Or perhaps you need someone who can be compassionate while re-working the company's image. I've got you covered. Here is a sample of the companies I've worked with: Johnson & Johnson's (in Aveeno and Splenda), Ty, Inc., Freedyums Snacks, Battle Archery, and dozens of others. In Creative and Ghostwriting Need help with your novel? Or some steamy scenes for your romance? I outline, edit, proofread, ghostwrite, and do all things creative writing. Samples available at request. In Television, Video Production, and Screenwriting Over the past six years, I've written or co-written pilot episodes of television shows (The Coma Rose Garden, Jupiter's Legacy, Valeria). I work locally with a small children's show, "Bulldogs". Beyond that, I've worked with several YouTube channels, including CollegeHumor, MoPete Productions, and Movie Boss. In Speech Writing and Politics I wrote for the Stacey Abrams campaign, primarily in speeches revolving around education. Toys R Us and Circuit City have also had speeches for their CEOs written by yours truly. I'm currently writing copy for the South Carolina Bernie Sanders office. In Business to Business Writing Need some B2B work instead of customer-facing? I'm happy to provide samples regarding this type of writing, though I feel it's detrimental to post the companies I've worked for on this one. Contact me! In Medical Experience and Writing Dozens of CBD oil companies have my ghostwriting converting at high levels for them right now. I've also worked in dental, veterinary, and other medically-related writing fields. I volunteered at my local veterinary clinic for years. With my husband in the military, I've also worked in medical data entry and substitute assistant nursing help. In Education I hold a substitute teaching credential for the states of Texas, Georgia, and Washington. I've worked in children's picture books, curriculum assistance, and lesson planning. I primarily work in character design, sound, and writing. Quest work can be seen on Blizzard's Warlords of Draenor expansion pack. In Voice Acting Perhaps the newest trait that I'm expanding upon, you can hear me in a few indie games and radio bits. Contact for samples! In Grant Writing I have a 70% acceptance rating as of this writing. I make no guarantees, but I'm more than willing to draft your grant proposal and assist you in connecting it with the right people. In Music, Sound, and Design Music credits include background commercial sound for Kellogg's cereals, several independent video games, and a few short films. Contact for more information. SFX requests are especially welcome. In Web Design If you're looking for someone to create full-stack websites, I'm definitely not there yet (but I'm working on it!). If you need a fairly simple Wordpress, Wix, or a site like that, I can help you out. Let's talk! In Bookkeeping I began managing my family's books when I was 8 years old. I continued until I left home. I still manage my own books and those of a handful of clients. If you're looking for a bookkeeper who will keep you in the black, I'm ready to help you out. Need something not listed? Contact me! I'm always around and if it is in my wheelhouse, I've got you covered.
