As a published author/editor myself of both non-fiction and fiction with over 30 years' experience, I understand the publication labyrinth and enjoy guiding other authors through it. My strenghths are expertly editing, formatting the manuscript for publishing in book and ebook formats, and designing a cover, if needed, to Amazon's, Kindle's, and/or IngramSpark's specs. I am able to then upload the files to Amazon, Kindle, and/or IngramSpark for publication as desired. By nature, I am a perfectionist, and my personality leans toward meticulous and thorough work while saving writers time, money, and frustration! I work very quickly without sacrificing quality. I have a doctorate in education with a major in English. Having taught school for 18 years, I have helped many children and young adults to become proficient writers. Two of my own children are published authors. Contact me now and let me help you get that book published! Can you imagine how it will feel once you have your own book in your hands?Novel

Since joining Upwork,I have successfully completed four romance novels and an interactive romance novel. My recent novels range from sweet adult to moderately spicy. I've also written Government/private proposals, Capability Statements and resumes. Before Upwork, I've been writing for over 30 years. During the first part of my career, I wrote business letters, technical documents for a chemical company, then legal documents, pleadings and letters for an attorney. More recently, I graduated from law school and wrote thousands of court pleadings, business letters, demand letters and appellate briefs, From 2015 until Covid, I handled Iowa appellate work, and wrote around 50 appellate briefs, averaging 25 pages each. I'm proficient in Word, Excel, Adobe, Turbotax, Intuit, and a number of new programs, including Slack. However, my first love is romance. My preference is to incorporate thriller/science fiction/horror/fantasy/adventure, but I'm okay with plain old romance, too. I'm not experienced writing gay romance, but would be happy to do so, as I'm all for love in all its forms. I'm comfortable with sweet, spicy or XXX-rated romance, but I do want it to have a plot. Also enjoy writing kink, so long as it doesn't involve real injury or death to anyone. Over the years, I've also written procedure manuals and short articles and anecdotes, including first-person, xxx-rated short stories. In addition to my 5 recent novels, I have had six of my novels published hard-cover in the early 90's. Two were YA romances for Bantam Books' Sweet Dreams line, the other for were Adult Sweet romances for Avalon books, who sold to libraries, mainly in rural communities. Those books were published under my then-married name, Lauren M. Phelps, and some are still available on Amazon. All of my work, both legal and romance, has been on deadline, and I do not miss deadlines. I look forward to working with you. Lauren Jolly, formerly Lauren PhelpsNovel

Hello, folks! I am new to ghostwriting, but not new to the writing world. Sentence flow and story are very important to me, as are fleshed-out characters and world-building, and my strengths lie in creating a realistic and believable world. No matter the setting or the characters, it is my goal to fully encompass the reader in your world. Through the use of dialogue and description, I will show, and not tell, your audience your story. My preferred genres include romance, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and contemporary fiction. However, if you have a project that falls outside of those genres, I'm always willing to see if we'd be a match. My style can fluctuate depending on what the project calls for and I am always flexible if you need me to mirror your own! I am very easy to work with and am always available for communication.Novel

Having served as a professional editor and writer for more than ten years now, working with both fiction and nonfiction, my passion revolves around helping authors and publishers find the full potential of their manuscripts. My work is loosely split between working with indie authors and publishers, and so I also do work on blurbs, synopses, and queries, but only for works that I've edited or been directly involved in as a writing coach/consultant. In all tasks, though, I have an excellent eye for detail, and with my extended background as a writer and teacher, I can be depended upon to offer professional guidance at every turn, eliminate errors and inconsistencies, and meet all deadlines. By turns, I work as a writing coach, editor, and ghostwriter, matching my talents to my clients' needs. In each of these roles, I only take on projects that suit my skills--so, if you ask me to edit or write in a genre where I have no experience, I'll be the first to tell you I'm not your ideal fit. But, when I do take on a project, you can be sure that it will become a top priority and receive the attention and skill it deserves. When it comes to nonfiction, I'm got a varied background that crosses a variety of disciplines and types of writing. I've edited and copyedited a number of dissertations and academic articles within the humanities and sciences, and I've developed a close familiarity with details of grammar and citation styles (as I've worked as both a freelance copyeditor and as the assistant director of a university-level writing center). That said, academic work is no longer my focus, and you'll more often find me working on memoirs, self-help and business books, books related to health and wellness, and books that have some intersection with social justice, science/nature, current events, or culture. I've also worked on a number of books related to travel and history, as well as philosophy. In fiction, I have experience in various genres, including (but not limited to): science fiction, fantasy, speculative fiction, horror, suspense/thrillers, mystery, romance (of various subgenres, but especially paranormal, suspense, billionaire, dark, and contemporary), historical fiction, and literary fiction. My experience focuses on adult and YA material--I'm not the best fit for middle grade or children's books. Regarding editing, specifically: I've been freelancing on a full-time basis since August of 2014, and I love keeping an eclectic calendar so that I always have a fresh eye for each new manuscript. I track all work via Word's Track Changes feature, using the comments feature for feedback as needed. In terms of writing, I hire out as a fixer just as often as a writer--this means that I work through a complete novel, elevating the writing and 'fixing' issues that come up in relation to the story, character, pacing, genre, etc. Essentially, hiring me as a 'fixer' means that you've got a complete draft, and it's in decent shape, but you know it needs work and want it to reach the next level without your being directly involved in the revision. Many of my 'fixing' jobs come to me because an author needs to adjust word count up or down significantly, but is at a loss for how to do so without detracting from a project's quality or bringing in outside help. With nonfiction, I need to be 100% sure that I'm the right fit for a project before taking it on, so engaging in a detailed conversation ahead of hiring is always a must. My work in ghostwriting fiction has been focused around paranormals, suspense, romance, horror, SFF, and nonfiction, and I only hire out as a ghostwriter for adult work (vs YA). Lastly, I often serve as a writing coach, helping authors complete their first full manuscript or finish a project that's been languishing on their desktop for years. I take an immense amount of pride in my track record for helping first-time writers succeed as writers, and limit the number of coaching clients I take on at any given time in order to make sure I'm available on short-notice for meetings, crises, and content reviews/edits. This process looks different for every client and project, as I tailor my approach to each individual and job, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about how it might best work for you.Novel

Hi! Welcome to my profile. Let me introduce myself. From a young age, I have always had a passion for reading and writing, eager to share my short stories. As an adult, I attended UCLA's creative writing program and, upon completion, was awarded my fiction writing certificate. I have written multiple short stories and have recently self-published a Young Adult Sci-fi/Fantasy Romance novel that made number 11 on Amazon’s best sellers list under science fiction romance. If you need your novel written, I am the person for the job! I am an intermediate ghostwriter but am experienced with creative writing and will write your novel using all the skills I’ve acquired. You can trust that I will put time, effort, diligence, and enthusiasm into writing your novel as I do when writing my own. I will always remember it is your story and I am only the tool helping you write it. The key to a well-written novel is the plot line and character development. Therefore, I will improve the structure of your novels as well as give character arcs to your characters to help fuel the story into becoming the page-turner your novel deserves. I am also available as a beta reader and have experience with beta reading numerous manuscripts. I will write detailed notes and suggestions in a feedback letter to further enhance your novel.
