BCjobs.ca and our sister company Jobcast have a part time Communications Coordinator position available, and we’re looking for just the right person to fill it. We need someone who can help our web-based tech companies grow our brand and engage both our clients and the online community, all with just the right human touch!
About the Position
BCjobs.ca is a local online job posting board dedicated to bringing together the best employers and best jobseekers in BC. Jobcast is the other part of your role. Jobcast is a social recruiting app that works with companies all over the world to help bring together recruiting and social media!
In this role, you will manage social media for BCjobs.ca, BCtechjobs.ca, and Jobcast. You will curate relevant, interesting content to share through our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles, engaging our followers while maintaining a distinct voice for each brand. You know how to put the “social’ in social media and you can build relationships with influencers and partners, helping our brands become part of larger conversations.
As the Communications Coordinator, you’ll support us and our partners in marketing events, like industry-specific Meetups and Open Houses. You will raise awareness of these events on social media, on networks like Meetup, and through email. You know that these events will benefit employers, job seekers, and curious professionals in different ways, and you know exactly how to communicate with each of these groups.
You’ll also dip your foot into content marketing by overseeing the BCjobs.ca, BCtechjobs.ca, and Jobcast blogs. You will manage relationships with guest bloggers and contributors, develop content calendars, and write, review, and publish blog posts. This means you’ll need to have a good grasp of the different audiences that read each of our blogs - some knowledge of HR, job hunting, and social media best practices will help you out here.
It’s a virtual office, so most of the time you’ll get to work from home. Working from home doesn’t mean working alone: team members are constantly in touch on a daily basis, with weekly online company meetings. We’ll provide the tech tools to do your job, in-person company lunch dates, and ongoing support and guidance.
Our perfect candidate will be tech-savvy and versatile. This job is all about communication, in all its forms. You need to be totally fluent with life on the web, enjoy building (and maintaining) great relationships, and knowledge of social media is essential! You’ve worked with tools like Hootsuite or Buffer, know how to identify and keep track of influencers and content sources, and you know Wordpress like the back of your hand.
We’re looking for a colleague who has exceptional written communication skills, knows how to adapt their messages for different platforms, and is able to tackle any challenges that they come across. Most important is poise, reliability, attention to detail, and a sparkling personality. You’ll need to be proactive and keen, articulate and thoughtful, a dedicated self-starter, and all-around awesome.
We’re a small but dedicated team, and we’re looking for the perfect fit. We encourage questions, innovation, creativity, and initiative.
