We are seeking a long-term partner to take on large blocks of content (40+ blog posts) on a monthly basis.
We are a small SEO/copywriting firm based in Canada with a growing portfolio of clients. All our SEO services include regular content creation in the form of blog posts.
Our clients are mostly professionals (optometry practices) and home services (roofing, eavestroughing, siding, furnace installation/repair, electricians, plumbing).
Please read the entire description before applying. Applicants who do not will be immediately removed from the project. Thank you!
WHO ARE YOU
You are a creative person that has an eye for detail. You also hate cliches and would never write what I just did.
You recognize the importance of deadlines. Deadlines are life, deadlines are good- they provide you structure and guide your workflow. They also cannot be missed, ever.
You've worked with marketing companies and other small businesses and understand a bit about their needs. You're not an expert on their business, but you recognize that you are a valuable part of their marketing initiatives.
When you write, you do so to exacting standards and ensure that each piece you submit meets stringent quality criteria.
Lastly, you are motivated. Hungry. A real self-starter. You recognize a good opportunity when you see one, and you work hard to deliver your best, always.
WHAT SKILLS DO YOU NEED?
To be successful, you will need to have a basic understanding of technical writing, search engine optimization, and of course, proper written technical, grammatical, and stylistic fundamentals.
You also need to be responsive and available to communicate with via skype.
WHAT ARE YOU WRITING ABOUT?
The majority of your recurring work comes in the form of blog posts. 400-600 words, and written to be read by a real person. These posts are going live on client websites and must represent their business and brand professionally.
You will write about eye conditions, the optical industry, construction techniques, trades, home services, car autobody repair, and nearly anything else we can throw at you. It goes without saying that everything you write will need to be researched so that it is factual and accurate.
Unrelated, but relevant before you apply: the answer to the question is tacos, by the way. Going back to the topic at hand...
Here's an example (if you cannot meet this standard within 1 hour, please do not apply, as this is an example of the standard we expect in the time frame we expect it in): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1KJu8S4ae4mBl8Hu79-QAaRfWkY3aWyOg0-YikYClYrI/edit?usp=sharing
HOW WILL YOU WORK?
Projects and deliverables will be assigned in our project management system (basecamp). Your project manager - an experienced copywriter and SEO professional of 12 years - will be available as needed to provide direction and clarification. He writes a lot of copy and is more than happy to assist you in any way he can. He's also super handsome (and definitely didn't write this description).
In many cases, you will not be given a topic but you will be given a theme (aka, "furnace repair"). You are free to select your own topic, and research/write as needed, so long as it fits within the confines of the theme.
In the beginning, you will likely undergo some training until you consistently produce the product we need (from an SEO/technical point of view).
Feedback will be given if/when relevant and will always be constructive. We want a long-term partnership, and that starts with setting you up for success.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY
You must be a native English speaker, or write English so convincingly that we'd have no way of knowing you weren't.
You will need strong writing, technical skills, and time-management skills.
You must provide at least 3 samples of your writing that match the description above. Show us your best stuff.
