I was called down to Paramount off my very first spec script. At the time, Star Trek allowed 50 people a year to come to the William S. Hart building and pitch ideas. To earn that pitch, I beat thousands of other writers with my spec submission. I've been writing ever since. I give seminars at Universities and in Los Angeles for organizations like Colab. I've won pitching contests and excel at synopsis and loglines. I've also produced films for Netflix, Eone, Lionsgate, and MGM. I'm a writer at heart, and because of that I have a Facebook Group called "Screenwriter Networking," with over 70 thousand members. Experienced writers know that writing is not a science, it's an art. You can't rely on structure but it's a wonderful guardrail. Structure is a guide. Your story needs to elicit emotion from the audience. Showrunners and Directors believe they can be writers because they've studied how to follow some "structure recipe". That is only the first step to becoming a writer. Let me show you. There are levels beyond story structure. Call them tools. There's a psychology behind writing. (It was the best of times, it was the worst of times) There's subtext, subverting audience expectation, hooks and cliffhangers, sympathy for characters or the ghosts that haunt them, story plants and payoffs, foreshadowing, dramatic irony, mid-point shift, a time crunch with high stakes, objective correlative and the list goes on. Story creators today seem to have forgotten these tools in favor of a structure recipe. Don't rely on cheap tropes and imitation. Good writing requires just a little insight to achieve much more.

I'm a creative and driven writer and stand-up comic from Ontario, Canada. I've been pursuing my passion of comedy for over six years - featuring for some of Canada’s top comedians, headlining local events and festivals, writing screenplays, and Directing/Producing short films. My films have been accepted into multiple film festivals, and my screenplays are ranked highly on leading industry websites. In addition to film, I've been expanding into new media and animation. As a comedian, word economy is the game. Keeping the audience locked-in and laughing, with no wasted words. This "trimming of the fat" has brought me success in all my writing. Respecting the audience's time; translates into engaging content across all genres. Comedy was just my "foot in the door". I’m a storyteller at heart, and each new medium provides an opportunity to be creative and connect with an audience in a new format. I'm looking to branch out and freelance as an opportunity to dive into new projects and grow whilst helping others create exciting and engaging content for their projects.

“One of the most talented writers I’ve ever seen.” As a published author with over a decade of professional experience, I’ve ghostwritten numerous books and screenplays for a diverse range of clients that include best-selling authors, screenwriters, actors, filmmakers, CEOs, and tech entrepreneurs. I’ve worked both as a freelancer and as a contractor for agencies in Australia, Canada, the US, and the UK, with a number of authored titles being published through various presses and a number of scripts currently in production. I am accomplished writing in nearly all genres, however, my specialization is in writing upmarket thrillers. What is an upmarket thriller? The ultimate genre, really. “Upmarket” is an industry term used to describe stories that contain elements of both commercial and literary fiction. Stories that take existing genre tropes and add to them deeper characterization, an elevated writing style, and penetrating questions about the human condition. A “thriller,” on the other hand, is a genre defined by its reliance on mystery, suspense, and an overall foreboding tone. Characters are duplicitous, expectations are subverted, and the line between good and evil is murky to non-existent. In other words, upmarket thrillers combine the best of both worlds. They use commercial tropes as the digestible framework with which to explore complex metaphysical themes. Simply put, whether a novel or screenplay, they are enigmatic stories well-told. Dark and exciting narratives that leave the audience with thought-provoking questions long after the final pages have been turned. And whether one of the many sub-genres—action, crime, historical, legal, political, spy—they are perhaps the most cinematic of all stories. No Country for Old Men, The Maltese Falcon, Gone Girl, The Silence of the Lambs, Casino Royale, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, A Clockwork Orange, The Talented Mr. Ripley—these are all upmarket thrillers. Shows like True Detective, Breaking Bad, and Peaky Blinders would fit into the category as well. You can see now why I’ve made them my speciality. As a ghostwriter, I receive your story idea at any stage of development and transform it into a completed work of art—to be authored under your name. I do the work. You reap the spoils. In terms of services, I offer the full gamut, from narrative consulting and editing existing works to creating whole stories from scratch. So whether you've a rough draft finished or merely a vague concept in your head, I’ll take your existing material and draft it into a compelling and professional narrative. Are you ready to make your dream story a reality? Then reach out and let’s get started. I can’t wait to hear your idea—and can’t wait for you to see it on the page!
