I am so passionate about architecture and hospitality, I have been designing F&B (Food and Beverage) venues for over 9 years. Have you ever been to a restaurant where the interior design of the venue was amazing but the service was very disappointing? Maybe a long wait to get your order, or very disappointed with the quality of food? And have you ever been to a restaurant where the food was amazing but the dining experience was very disappointing? The seats were too close to the next table, the furniture are not comfortable, the front of house waitstaffs were very hard to get hold of? That is a grey area that overlaps the front of house and the back of house operation where most of the time they were neglected because coordination is not really in anyone's scope of work during design process. The architect/designer is not interested in what's happening behind the counter, the commercial kitchen designer is not interested in what's happening from behind their side of the counter; there's a lot of crossovers and it creates a grey area and a very big missing link in between. I saw that there was a lack in the market, so I decided to launch M Studio. I work closely with chefs, bartenders, baristas, front of house managers, and restaurateurs to ensure the design can help deliver the best dining and brand experience for the patrons. Design and specification are not the only things I do; I also look after planning approvals, centre management approval.
