I have worked as a graphic design artist for over 7 years, mainly in full-time jobs and have just made the switch to freelancing. I am proficient in most of the Adobe Creative Suite, my main applications being Illustrator and Procreate. I have worked in various parts of the industry, though have spent most of my time in print. At the beginning of my career, I worked as an in-house graphic designer for a screen-printing company where I worked daily on bringing clients' visions to life. I created many custom t-shirt designs in a variety of styles - from clean geometric to groovy hand-illustrated. After a year with the company, I went on to manage the entire art department, in which I had 6-8 artists underneath me. Where this was largely an administration-based job, it was also my job to gear the team creatively and ensure we were ahead of trends. I then went to work solely with a non-profit organization based in the heart of the surf world. I worked as part of their media team, until similarly, after about a year I then took over the whole department. This included creating all their marketing materials, shooting and creating content, managing their online presence, and creating merchandise for their sister business, a coffee shop. I believe what sets me apart as an artist is my people skills. I love working with people and being able to bring client's ideas to life. I am always open to feedback, as I want my clients to always walk away loving what has been made for them.

I make things people can actually hold and put on a wall: illustrated covers and cards, logos and full brand systems, event flyers and banners, posters and signage. Most of it starts as a pencil sketch on real paper, and all of it is built to go to press without surprises. I've been doing this since 2019 for small businesses, independent authors, nonprofits, and a few enterprise clients, and I handle the whole thing myself, from the first rough sketch to coordinating the print run. My work is drawn and built by hand, not auto-traced or generated, which is usually why people come to me in the first place. They want original art with an actual person behind it. Where I spend most of my time: Illustration is the heart of it. I work in graphite and colored pencil as much as Procreate, Photoshop, and Illustrator: character work, nature and landscape scenes, greeting cards, and big story-packed compositions. I also do book covers built to Amazon KDP spec, full wraparound with front, back, and spine. I've produced commercial work at volume too, including 20+ pieces for Roman Atwood's Smile More brand. Brand identity is the other half. I build full systems from zero: logo, colors, type, business cards, collateral. I work it out through research, hand sketches, and real revision rounds, and I coordinate the printing so it doesn't fall apart at the vendor. Prater Landscaping is a good example: logo, letterhead, business cards, tri-fold brochure, yard signs, and vehicle magnets, all coordinated and shipped. On the print side, I do event flyers, tickets, bulletin inserts, retractable banners, yard signs, brochures, and posters. Everything ships CMYK at 150dpi minimum with proper bleed and crop marks, press-ready, and I know how the material behaves, whether it's corrugated plastic, vinyl, or coated poster stock. I designed the Women's Christmas Dinner series for Epiphany Lutheran Church three years running, with a fresh look each year that still felt like the same event. I also build WooCommerce stores and do UX work in Figma. I previously set up an enterprise platform handling $208,445 GMV across 560 purchase orders for a Fortune 500-scale beverage distributor. If you want a designer who draws by hand, delivers files that print right the first time, and stays with the project through production, I'd love to hear what you're working on.

My college degree is in fine art with an emphasis in painting and drawing, but I have made a living as a graphic designer. I have had some pretty cool opportunities doing everything from branding companies to creating logos to designing for the ESPN XGames and College Football Playoffs. I believe it is essential to be multi-faceted when it comes to a designer's skill set and am always willing to expand my knowledge and experience whether it's in Photoshop, Illustrator, sketching with a pencil, or any of the other creative outlets that pique my interest. I consider myself a perfectionist and set the bar very high in all that I do. Nobody is going to have a higher expectation when it comes to the quality of the final product than I am.
