I write to make a difference—from helping communities heal through writing obituaries as a journalist to bridging the gap between patients and clinicians as a copywriter, and to creating clear documentation to ensure personnel perform their work safely as a technical writer—I believe everyone should have access to information necessary to make informed decisions about their lives. I have over 7 years of experience in writing, content creation, and management including AP style journalism, APA style copywriting, technical writing, website and document management, and project management. My content creation experience spreads across long-form (100+ page) safety documents, short-form social and email media copy, HTML-coded, SEO-optimized website copy, and much more! In my free time, I love to play rugby, travel, hike, practice mixology, watch Seattle Reign soccer games, and play guitar (very badly). Contact me for any freelance, full-time, or part-time opportunities.Journalism Writing

I am an accomplished educator, from a long line of educators - who tried their absolute hardest to NOT become an educator. In fact, I tried SO hard to break the mold... that I originally majored in English with a focus in Writing and Communications. Out of college, I became a travel writer, working for local southern publications - covering a variety of destinations, restaurants, and live events - selling The Southern Dream. Writing is my passion, and travel is my hobby... so naturally the next step was to become an educator, right? I know, it confused me at first, too. I love writing, but I knew that I was missing the mark in making a difference in the world. This was something I knew my words could impact, but it was a further stretch to make a notable change. I woke up one morning and decided this was my path - I obtained my Master's Degree in Teaching and began my career working for the Department of Defense Education Activity in Beaufort, SC. Working with the children of the men and women who selflessly serve our country was a solid reminder that this was the path I was intended to take. They say those who can't do, teach. I say that age old adage is completely untrue. Who knew that my day job would morph into an atmosphere where I am able to not only participate in my passion of reading and writing - but where I also am able to ignite the spark and love of reading and writing in children of all ages. I get paid to nerd out about books, encourage the exploration and advancement of ideas, and have some of the most thought provoking discussions. In my professional career as a highly qualified educator I have achieved National Board Certification, held various leadership roles as they relate to reading and writing, obtained linguistics certifications, and most notably worked in a Dual Language program - harnessing the love of the English language in Bilingual learners as they simultaneously trek the path of biliterate education. Most recently, I am working as a CTE teacher who guides students into the world of graphic design, content creation, and varying other career paths. As a Board Certified Educator, I have designed curriculum for both secondary and beyond as they relate to college and career, and more specifically the path they take in the world of CTE. And I am even able to fit in time to travel - hobbies are important, you know. Ultimately - those who CAN do, absolutely should teach. The world needs us.Journalism Writing

I'm a freelance writer who has worked in a number of different mediums over the years, doing everything from long-form essays to investigative journalism. I got my start as the music calendar editor at an alternative weekly, which entailed not only writing articles and blog posts on a daily basis but also managing their social media accounts and redesigning the interface of the calendar itself, leading to eleven times more traffic by the time I left. It's now the most popular events calendar in the Seattle area. More recently I worked as a policy analyst for former Clinton spokesman Robert Weiner, which involved researching breaking news stories and discovering fresh angles, followed up by writing opinion pieces for publication in papers around the country. My work during this time appeared in the Austin Statesman, the New Jersey Star-Ledger, and Op-Ed News, among others. I currently work as a freelance copywriter and consultant for non-profit organizations around Washington state, building web presence, social media engagement, and developing donors.Journalism Writing

Consumer Priceless Imagination (CPI): Marketing inspires dreaming. It’s the figurative spoonful of sugar that helps the medicine go down. I can ignite that CPI. I'm an award-winning freelance writer, journalist and photographer. In my 23 years as a professional writer, I've done it all: copywriting, news writing and producing, press releases, marketing campaigns, blog posts, web and social media content, and video scriptwriting. My writing fluidly shifts to fit each project’s voice, like tech talk, self-care, health and environmental awareness. Most commonly, I see a project through from conception to the final draft, collaborating with a team to create compelling copy and visual brand imaging. But don't just take my word for it, the proof is in the pudding. Take a look at my portfolio for a taste test.Journalism Writing

I love helping people and organizations realize their potential through visual communication – whether it be corporate communications, social media, or creative marketing solutions. I hold certifications in email marketing, SEO, copywriting and social media marketing. ABOUT ME I graduated from Western Carolina University with both a B.A. and an M.A. in English, with a focus on Professional and Creative Writing. During my studies there, I also minored in art and specialized in graphic design. In 2009, I packed up my life and traversed the country to attend the School of Journalism at the University of Montana, where I pursued a M.A. in photojournalism and honed my photography and design skills. In 2011, after a stint in Mexico, I moved to Bellingham and began work as a copywriter at Faithlife (formerly Logos Bible Software). Soon after I was able to realize my dream of becoming a journalist when I was offered the job of assistant editor at Point Roberts Press. The Northern Light, a weekly community newspaper, gave me the opportunity to really dig into the craft of writing, with topics ranging from the mundane (yet, important) coverage of city council meetings to the recounting of colorful bayside festivals and the struggles and triumphs of the community. Time was well spent at Point Roberts Press, with a promotion to editor after the first year, and a myriad of bylines earned at the Press’ diversified publications. It was a great place to become a jack of all trades, and I was able to win several awards and pick up new skills. However an opportunity to work as a staff photographer at a local daily newspaper materialized, and it was too good to pass up. Joining the photo staff at The Skagit Valley Herald, I broadened my repertoire, building infographics and capturing daily life across the Skagit Valley for its readers to connect with. It was a great gig, and I loved it. But, alas, motherhood and the wild hours of journalism are hard to reconcile, so I turned to freelance. Now, I’m here and ready to help you design your content for social media and the web. I’m looking forward to working with you!Journalism Writing
