Project details

There's a difference between someone who's run fraud tickets and someone who's built the program those tickets flow through. I've done the second, for eleven years.
I've stood up fraud programs from nothing and rebuilt ones quietly falling apart, across fintech, e-commerce, and payments. That means owning the whole thing: detection logic, dispute and response workflows, the risk framework, vendor selection, and the reporting that lets leadership actually see what's happening. Not one control at a time, the system they all live in.
The results are real. Fraud losses cut up to 75%, first payment defaults down 60%, and one company taken off Visa's Monitoring Program entirely. I've owned budget and headcount, and I've translated fraud risk into the budget and roadmap calls leadership has to make.
Most fraud problems aren't where a company expects them. I find the real exposure, design the program that closes it, and sequence the build so you fix the biggest leaks first. If you want controls that hold as you scale, this is where that starts.

I’m Briana!

What I do, specifically:

Chargeback and dispute representment across Shopify Payments, Stripe, PayPal, Klarna, and Airwallex. Every reason code, every network. I build the evidence package around what the specific code actually requires, not a template stretched to cover everything. A “product not received” case and a “not as described” case need completely different stories told to the bank, and most losses come from treating them the same.

Shopify Payments appeals and reinstatements. Terminated account, held funds, risk review gone sideways. I’ve worked the ones that looked final on paper and turned a good share of them around. One example: a mid-size rental company hit with a termination after a chargeback spike, where the real cause was a shipping delay, not fraud. I built the appeal around fulfillment records and delivery documentation showing exactly that. Reinstated. The win was in the evidence, not the argument.

Fraud program and risk consulting. If your fraud controls are held together with duct tape and good intentions, I build the real thing: detection logic, dispute workflows, and documentation that keeps you compliant instead of exposed when a processor or auditor comes knocking.

Here’s what working together actually looks like. I read the case before I touch the keyboard, since half of dispute work is just refusing to skip that step. Questions come early, not three days before a deadline you didn’t know existed. And if something in your account is going to lose, you’ll hear it from me straight, not after a week of me pretending otherwise. Clients tell me I’m blunt in the most useful way. I’ll take that.

A few things I’ve done that tell you more than adjectives would:

Took a company from a 2.33% fraud ratio down to under 0.90%, and got it formally removed from Visa’s Monitoring Program. Not a patch. A full exit.

Built a real-time fraud scoring system from zero, document verification, device fingerprinting, synthetic ID analytics. First Payment Defaults dropped 60%.

Delivered over $5M in annual savings at one company: tighter operational tracking, disputes resolved inside compliance windows instead of aging into losses, and renegotiated vendor and investor contracts.

Took one company’s chargeback rate from 0.80% to below 0.20% in four months. Not four quarters.

The ground I actually stand on: FCRA, Reg E, BSA/AML referral processes, OCC, FFIEC, NIST CSF, UDAAP. Card network compliance the same way, Visa fraud-ratio thresholds and monitoring remediation understood from the inside, not read about from the outside. First- and third-party fraud, account takeover, synthetic identity, coordinated rings, card, ACH, and P2P fraud. Vendor and third-party risk. Cross-functional delivery with Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance, because a control that never ships protects no one.

Tools and platforms I work in: LexisNexis, Alloy, Persona, Sardine, Socure, Forter, Signifyd, Cybersource, Zendesk, Salesforce, Looker, Tableau, PowerBI, PaymentTech, Demandware, Revenue Protect, Jira, Confluence, and Miro.

Education: M.S., Administration of Justice & Security, and B.S., Criminal Justice / Cybercrime Administration, both from University of Phoenix. The investigative foundation under all of it.

One more thing worth saying plainly. I won’t take a case I can’t help with just to bill the hours. If your situation is outside what I do well, I’ll tell you that on the first call and point you somewhere better if I can. My reputation is worth more than a single engagement.

If you’re here, something’s probably already on fire, or you’re smart enough to build before it does. Either way, message me with what you’re facing. Some cases win clean. Some drag longer than anyone wants. I’ll tell you which one you’re in before we start.

And truly, don’t hesitate to reach out even if you’re not sure I’m the right fit yet. I’m always glad to talk something through, share what I’ve learned the hard way, and help you get pointed in the right direction, whether we end up working together or not.

Looking forward to meeting you!

Steps for completing your project

After purchasing the project, send requirements so Briana can start the project.

Delivery time starts when Briana receives requirements from you.

Briana works on your project following the steps below.

Revisions may occur after the delivery date.

Understand your business and exposure

I start with how your business actually moves money and where fraud can enter. Every program is different, so I map your real risk surface before recommending a single control.

Assess what you have and what's missing

I review your current controls, detection logic, and workflows against where your risk actually sits. Most gaps aren't where companies expect, so I look at the whole lifecycle, not just the moments money moves.

Review the work, release payment, and leave feedback to Briana.
