Ending the contract with this freelancer was very difficult as we have a great working relationship with his brother. Unfortunately I must be candid with my feedback. A refund was requested, with no action from the freelancer. Also an investigation thru Upwork has been started. The freelancer, promised a certain number of leads each week. Now, we start everyone off at a low rate, to see their consistency and the veracity of the work. There are many freelancers that claim they can do specific jobs, only to find out we have this situation. Within two weeks time, he billed enough hours for over 2 months of pay, despite the flat, agreed upon rate. We paused the contract and gave him every opportunity to deliver what we agreed on (which was much lower than he insisted he could/would do) After 3 more weeks, freelancer not only did not meet the number of leads, we could only use 1 single lead, as he had not provided even the most basic information needed- personal email address. (this was the entire reason for the job) We do not believe in ruining a freelancers reputation, and that is never our intent, but we must be candid, especially after being called "a joke" and accused of "modern colonization" the freelancer provided an equivalent of 2 hours of work total and was literally paid almost $70 per hour, based on what he delivered. We are extremely disappointed and had very high hopes for Gilbert. Unfortunately, we thought we hired a great person, but the only thing we got from this hire was insulted and now an awkward situation as his brother is very professional. For that, this is truly our honest feedback, and by far the lowest we have ever given. Fortunately, the other members we hired for the same exact role and the same exact time have been thriving. We wish Gilbert well but, we would not be open to rehire at this time.
