I hired Chikako to assist me with a lot of practical and bureaucratic challenges of moving to Japan, and she has been an absolute lifesaver for me.
At a time when many services have become generic and low-effort, Chikako’s approach is refreshingly authentic. Today, anyone with a bit of patience and a search engine (or an AI tool) can easily collect information found on the surface of the web. Chikako not only collected information from reliable sources for me but, for example, when it came to the house search, she also filtered that information and created a custom excel sheet to help me evaluate the options. Most importantly she gave me real-world advice on timing and best practices that you simply cannot find on Google or by asking an AI agent.
Beyond her technical skills, what really makes her special is her thoughtfulness. To give an example, one day my air conditioning stopped working, and since I barely spoke any Japanese at the time, I was really struggling. Instead of just giving me a written answer from behind a computer screen, Chikako made the phone calls to the assistance service for me, saving me from hours of panic! She genuinely cared about solving my problem and calming me down, and she did the same in many other situations.
It’s rare to find someone so proactive, intuitive, and sincerely kind. I was completely inexperienced with Japan, but I can tell that her approach and professionalism would be a huge help for anyone, regardless of their situation.

My family and I were in the middle of a Real Estate purchase in Osaka when things became very confusing and difficult to understand even though we had an Agent and our family member can speak fluent Japanese. I had never used Upwork before and Chikako's profile stood out. We had an initial meeting with her and I just knew instantly that things would get back on track smoothly. I was worried our case may be too complicated and she would say no, but she took the case and began work. Her very first email to me explained Japanese contracts, timeline and even steps that would be coming ahead so we could prepare. She prepared draft emails for me written in Japanese so that I could communicate with others. Everything started to fall into place. Japan Real Estate might be very different from other places (we are from Hawaii and the contract is similar in words, but the process is very different), and Chikako's guidance along each step allowed us to feel confident.
