Children’s Book: From Stars to Humans
Working with Amna Zaki was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. My primary style is cartoonish and warm. I also illustrate in realistic, semi-realistic, watercolor, comic, digital, and anthropomorphic styles when a story calls for it. If you don't have a clear visual direction yet, that's completely normal. We'll figure it out together during the early stages, before anything is final.
My process runs in clear milestones: Character development, Interior spreads, Book cover design, full color rendering, then formatting. Each stage includes 2-3 rounds of revisions, so nothing moves forward until you're happy with it. Sketches of your spreads get feedback first, and rendering follows your chosen color palette or the choices of palettes from my end. Milestones can be reordered around what matters most to you. A full picture book typically takes 8-12 weeks, depending on how quickly feedback comes back at each stage.
Once the art is complete, I handle formatting for KDP, IngramSpark, Barnes & Noble, and Lulu if needed. You get print-ready files with correct trim, bleed, and CMYK, no extra formatting step needed.
I care as much about how a story reads as how it looks. Every page and spread is paced to keep young readers turning the page, with character expressions and continuity held consistent from cover to final page.
