Create a Database Lookup Project on Wordpress
While the developer clearly has technical skill, this project was a disappointment due to a fundamental disregard for the agreed-upon scope. I hired him to implement a plugin-based WordPress solution using specific tools I had already purchased. Instead, he made a unilateral decision to custom-code the project without consulting me, despite clear instructions to the contrary.
From Kumail: "Honestly I had to make the whole thing from scratch, using plugins to pull off what you wanted wasn't the brightest idea😄"
Communication was respectful (until he called me stupid), but the lack of alignment on execution led to wasted time, increased complexity, and a result I did not ask for. I value developers who can follow directions, respect scope, and collaborate on decisions, rather than override them.
This may be a good fit for projects that require custom development from scratch. However, suppose you're looking for someone to work within an existing framework or follow specific implementation guidelines. In that case, I suggest being extremely clear and prepared to enforce those boundaries early with Kumail.
