Three things most builders skip and I do not.
Latency and interruptions. If the agent pauses before answering, the caller knows it is a machine and hangs up. I tune turn detection so it starts speaking as soon as the caller stops, and barge-in so it goes quiet the moment somebody talks over it. I measure the gap on real calls instead of guessing.
What happens when it goes wrong. An agent that never fails does not exist. What matters is the fallback: what it says when it does not understand, when the calendar is down, when the caller asks for a human. We define that before we build, not after a customer hangs up.
Testing. Before anything goes live I run the agent through a battery of real call scenarios and hand you the recordings, so you can judge it yourself instead of taking my word for it.
