You will get a barcode scanner that turns any packaged food into nutrition data
Rising Talent

Project details
If your app or business needs to know what is inside a packaged food, this delivers it: scan a UPC barcode and get back structured nutrition data ready for your product. I build the full pipeline: camera-based scanning that works in a mobile browser, lookups against the major nutrition databases (USDA and Open Food Facts), and an AI fallback that reads the label photo for products the databases miss. Straight talk: barcode lookup is database matching first and AI second, and I design it that way because that is what gives accurate numbers. I have 20+ years of software experience and built photo-based meal logging into my own live nutrition app, Money and Macros, so this is production experience, not a first attempt. Good fit for fitness and nutrition apps, meal planning tools, health coaches, and grocery or wellness products.

Web Development + Full-Stack Builds (Next.js)
Vancouver, United States - 3:20 pm local time
What I do:
- Create AI assisted web integrations: document parsing, intake automation, chat and email assistants, content pipelines, built on your LLM API
- Custom web applications: CRMs, client portals, billing systems, internal tools, delivered fast with Next.js, TypeScript, and Supabase
- Team training: I teach your people to use AI tools well, then stay on to guide the roadmap
Recent work includes an Renewal-letter parser for insurance brokers, an EHR modernization proof of concept for a healthcare software vendor, a paper-to-digital intake system for an insurance agency, and multiple production SaaS apps with subscription billing.
I build with senior-level architecture at a pace and price traditional dev shops cannot match. Everything ships with clean handover docs.
I look forward to hearing about your project. Send me a message.
Steps for completing your project
After purchasing the project, send requirements so Chris can start the project.
Delivery time starts when Chris receives requirements from you.
Chris works on your project following the steps below.
Revisions may occur after the delivery date.
Review your products and requirements
I look at your example barcodes, confirm data sources, and lock in the exact fields you want returned.
Build and test the scanner
I wire up the lookups and AI fallback, then test against your example barcodes until the numbers check out.
