Taking over — or doubling down on — a codebase is a de-risking exercise: knowing what breaks first, what's quietly leaking performance or security, and what order to fix things in. I've spent 20+ years making those calls, most recently as SVP of Engineering at Checkmate (integrations org: 130+ API integrations, 20,000+ live locations) and before that as Lead Software Architect at WeWork. You get a written audit — architecture map, security and performance findings, every item ranked by risk vs. effort — and a punch list your team can execute in priority order, with an optional follow-on where I direct or do the fixes.

Most recently I was SVP of Engineering at Checkmate (restaurant tech), where I grew the integrations engineering organization from a single developer into the team behind 130+ API integrations across 25+ POS systems and 30+ delivery platforms — live in 20,000+ restaurant locations. Before that, six years as Lead Software Architect at WeWork through its hyper-growth years: identity, billing, room booking, and the member platform. I started on Rails 1.0 at India's first Ruby on Rails company and have shipped Ruby/Rails and PostgreSQL systems ever since.

Hands-on review of auth, injection surfaces, secrets handling, and dependency CVEs; then slow queries, N+1s, caching, and hot paths under real traffic patterns.
