Working with this development team to bring my game, Cozy Leaf, to life has been a rewarding and transformational experience. From concept to execution, they’ve demonstrated consistent professionalism, creativity, and patience, all while helping turn a niche concept into a fully playable mobile game for both Android and iOS.
My game wasn’t your standard build. It’s a stoner-friendly, time-management cafe sim centered around running a cozy dispensary, a concept that requires a careful balance of charm, functionality, and technical know-how. Despite challenges such as App Store restrictions on cannabis-related language and the complexities of gameplay (including 60+ levels, restocking mechanisms, in-app purchases, and an intuitive UI/UX), the team remained flexible and open to feedback throughout the process.
They brought to life features like:
Multiple shop environments
An engaging upgrade and restocking system
A calming, inviting UI with cute animations
Systems for coins, gems, and scaling challenges
A thoughtful onboarding/tutorial flow
One major thing I learned along the way: you must know what you want and be able to explain it clearly. I can’t stress this enough for other solo devs or creative entrepreneurs — even the most skilled team can’t read your mind. Take the time to document your vision (I used a GDD), provide detailed references (images, gameplay notes, and competitor examples), and maintain honest and specific communication. When I was clear, the results exceeded expectations.
We encountered a few typical bumps, including Apple ID permissions, milestone clarifications, and asset updates, but the team remained patient and responsive, which is all I could have asked for. They were invaluable when I needed guidance importing scenes, prepping for iOS submission, or setting up systems like IAPs.
Now that Cozy Leaf is live, I can say confidently: this game feels like mine. And that’s thanks to the collaborative spirit these developers brought to every milestone. I appreciate that they allowed me to make changes, helped fill in the blanks where I wasn’t sure, and never pressured me to spend more than I could afford, a massive deal for an indie founder trying to break even.
