The hard part of machine learning is not training a model. It is knowing whether the model is any good, and being honest about it.
I hold an Oxford DPhil in AI and have spent over 15 years building machine learning systems that had to survive contact with real data at Mars, EY, Croner-i and Nestle.
How I work:
• A simple baseline first, so we know what the fancy model has to beat
• Evaluation on data the model has never seen, never on the training set
• Careful checks for leakage and overfitting, the two things that make a model look brilliant in a notebook and useless in production
• Real numbers reported, including the cases where it fails
What you get: the trained model, the evaluation results, the code, and on the top tier a deployed API with monitoring and retraining notes.
Worth saying plainly: not every problem needs machine learning, and some datasets are too small or too noisy to support a useful model. If yours is one of those, I will tell you before you buy and suggest what would actually help instead.
