I recently built and published an open-source astronomy web app that identifies objects in any sky photo, from a phone snap to a JWST image. It plate-solves the image, then names every detected source from live catalogs (SIMBAD, Gaia, Hubble Source Catalog) — on one frame it named 3,739 of 5,705 detected sources at sub-arcsecond accuracy.
