A cloud server that was set up in a hurry is a slow outage waiting to happen: root logging in over SSH, no firewall, no backups, a database tuned for a machine four times the size. I build the server properly the first time. Provisioning on AWS EC2 or Lightsail, DigitalOcean, Hetzner or a comparable provider, I configure the web stack you need - Nginx or Apache, PHP or Node, MySQL or MariaDB - with SSL certificates that renew themselves, a firewall that only opens what you actually use, SSH hardened to keys with root login disabled, automatic security updates, swap and resource limits sized to the instance, and fail2ban or equivalent against brute force. WordPress sites get the extra pass they need: correct file ownership and permissions, sensible PHP limits, object caching where it helps, and a WordPress-aware backup routine. Backups are configured and then tested by restoring one, because a backup nobody has restored is a guess. Moving an existing site across is included on the higher tiers. You finish with a written handover covering how to reach the server, what runs on it, where the backups go and how to restore one.
